Am making chicken for dinner. There is an oven setting broil and another bake. Which one will give me the best outcome?I want the chicken tender but not dry. I need an answer ASAP.

I have to disagree with the answers here. first of all baking takes a long time, secondly think about this...do you think that resturants are making your steak on a grill?? no, well then why cant you broil a breast here at home huh?? look the only way this will turn out dry is if you overcook it. if you dont know how to cook one then maybe you should bake it. if you do, then broiling is best. you are not going to get a nice brown crust while baking. you can with broiling, and It will taste superior! Just dont OVERCOOK it, the result will be a dry meat and you dont want that. well good luck!

BTW, I am assuming you are doing boneless breasts, if you are not then bake by all means.

Whole chickens can be roasted. I cook a thawed 4-5 lb chicken at 375 deg for 1.5-1.75 hrs. Salt the cavity. You can stuff it or not. A quick method is to put chunks of celery and onion sprinkled with poultry seasoning and salt inside. Rub cooking oil over the outside.

Cut-up birds will take considerably less time and some recipes may call for a higher or lower temp, depending on the recipe and other ingredients.

Broiling even a cut-up chicken in the oven takes a looong time and can be messy - same as trying to cook chicken parts on a BBQ grill. I think it's a nuisance trying to keep the fat from catching fire. Some people have the knack and patience. I don't.

I set my over at 400, season & cover the chicken and bake for 1/2hr. I take the foil off for the last 15 minutes and sometimes turn on the broiler to crisp it up...depends, if there is a bed of rice under the chicken, I dont broil.

Bake - set your oven at 375 and bake the chicken in a oven safe dish for about 45 minutes. Do not cover the chicken.

Baking will turn out better, but takes longer. Chicken does not broil well at all. If you dont want to take the time to bake it, better to cook it in a skillet with a little olive oil.

Bake is even heat, Broil is super high heat on a high temp--good for searing meat, crisping, or browning. Best to use lower temps in Bake for juicy food. Good luck.

Probably bake, but what kind of chicken are you making? You probably want to add something in with the chicken if it is not breaded. Maybe italian dressing or a creamy soup such as cream of chicken so that it doesn't get too dry.

Bake your chicken on 350 degrees, for around an hour. Use your seasonings. I find that minced onions are good at tenderizing.
