Bichons are quite stubborn, and high strung dogs. The dog is playing.. Maybe take it out for a run or long walk once a day..

Dog Trainer Cesar Milan is right when he says that most Americans treat dogs like people. It is possible that the dog had some abnormality but chances are that the dog isn't being walked, disciplined, or given space. Too often, dogs dominate their owners because the owner should act like a "pack leader" but instead the dog gets "love" with no discipline which = crazy dog.

My step-daughter has a bichon and it gets anxiety attacks. At least this is what she tells me, it stays with her mom. Anyway, they have had it on medication for it before. Very nervous and high-strung dog. I think it probably comes with so much in-breeding. Alot of the "pure-breds" are this way. Not all, so all you breeders don't flip out on me!

my dog goes into a "hyper" mode where he gets all riled up and just starts running around the house until he gets tired. I always thought it was a normal thing they did.

I think so. I know that if their owners are gone too long, they go crazy. I forgot what it was called.
