Don't buy junk for them! Prepare a good balanced breakfast . At lunch give them a soup and sandwich or sandwich and carrots sticks, etc. At supper prepare a well balanced meal and sit down as a family to eat. Just have one or 2 desserts each week after supper. I have been doing this with my grandchildren and it is working great. No colas, only decaf. tea, no kool aid because of the dyes(you can get the ones without dye), just have a few chips(one bag only per week for the whole family unless there are more than 4 of you) if they are having a sandwich or Mexican food that chips go with. If they are starving after school, give them peanutbutter on celery or crackers with milk or juice but not enough to fill them up, a snak is a small portion to hold them over until mealtime. It shouldn't be a sweet snak either. If you can stick to this everyone will be healthier and slimmer and forming good eating habits for life.

Buy a cheese sauce in a jar. Supermarkets usually have them in the pasta aisle next to the spahetti sauces. I know because I use them too. How many kids don't like cheese? Just prepare your vegetables as you normally would, heat some of the cheese sauce in your microwave and pour over the veggies. Plus they get a little more calcium for those growing bones. Or, if the vegetables are still hot from the stove, just put a slice of american cheese on them(you know, like Kraft singles) and let it melt over the vegetables.
Second option. Butter. Melt some butter and pour over the vegetables.
All in all, cheese is probably the best.

I'm not saying you did this, but a lot of parents make a big deal out of veggies and then the children won't eat them. We just put them on my daughter's plate and acted like it was just part of the meal. We never said....now eat your vegetables. She always ate them and still does. Maybe at this point you can ask them what veggies they do like and fix them even if you eat the same things over and over again.

There are some great recipe books available that are so cool for just what you are looking for.
One in particular is called "play with your food". It shows you how to make finger foods look like animals and a car, all kinds of things.
I have collected alot of ideas over the years from Family Fun magazine. They have a website you can rummage through for helpful ideas.
One idea I like to use is to make tacos out of leaf lettuce. Use the outer leaves as tortilla shells and wrap like a soft taco. I love it better that the wrap too!
Make veggie dip varieties. My favorite is to make Hidden Valley Ranch dressing from the packets but instead of a cup of milk I use 3/4 cup for a thicker version. Keep it in the fridge with a bag of carrots. If it's right there and ready in little bowl containers for the dip they will have it handy.
I think you will find alot of neat crafty ideas parents can do to curb your child's craving for fat foods are out there at your fingertips!

I put cheese on corn and broccoli, my son loves that. Don't let them pick them out, ask them to try one bite, chewed and swallowed with the veggies in. Or make up some veggies, salt, pepper and butter, or a little sugar and butter them, then have a blind folded taste test, kind of like a game. This you'll see what they like and can show them they like the veggies.

I've been a nanny for several years and the best way to get the little ones to eat their veggies is to mix them up in things that they like. If they pick out them out the best way to get them to eat them is by saving everything that they picked out at lunch/supper and when they get hungry for a snack later, let them finish what they did not eat. Have them finish up their veggies (or a reasonable portion) before allowing them to have snacks. This is an effective way to get little ones to eat the good stuff. Just remember, you have to be firm. If you allow them snack when they haven't eaten the stuff that is good for them, then they aren't going to eat it.

Dips! Low fat ranch or any other dip will have them begging for more veggies, cooked or raw. Works on my three kids and has since they were pretty young. Another tip, don't stock the house with it either. I know they can go elsewhere and get it, but make them have to. Don't have junk ready at hand for them.

The only reason they are eating junk food, is because you buy it. They learn from what you teach them. Make Healthy food interesting add food colouring mix it up a bit

Powers of persuasion!!! We give our children incentives, that also help us spend more time together. such as if our girl eats all her veggies, shes 5, we will walk to the park and feed the ducks or ride bikes together.

I make candy carrots...you cook carrots, add butter, and brown sugar, and even top w/ some marshmellows... or raw carrots and dip in ranch dressing, or melted cheese and broccli.....and just dont buy the junk...if its not in the house they cant eat it
