Don't pop the question in a restaurant -don't mean to offend but it's so over done that it's just too common. Be creative and romantic. I can't offer suggestions as I don't know her likes and interests. What one considers romantic is an individual thing.

Good luck!

Romantic dinner that you cooked on pottery you made yourself, at any pottery shop, with the words will you marry me painted in the dish-covered by food when you serve it of course (then she has a memento from the night as well). Had another friend who's girlfriend was really in photography, he took pictures (separate) of the words "Will you marry me" off of billboards and then they developed the pictures together. Another friend boyfriend, now husband, bought space for a donation to the local zoo on the zoo's boardwalk and had the proposal burned into the wood. She's a big animal person. Key is making it unique. Find something she's passionate about and use that as a starting off point. Good luck!!

DON'T DO IT! YOU LIFE WOULD BE RUINED!!!!
Just joking, Marriage is a beautiful thing. Before you propose make sure that Christ is the head of both of your life's and you would be blessed.
Nice romantic way, buy her something nice to wear, take he out and have a unforgettable time, make her feel like she is a queen, and when she least expects it, get down on one knee and make it count!!!
A friend of mine, husband took her out and later that went to, like a dance club, you know a lounge. He had set it up where the club would play a special song and when the song ended everything would stop and they shined a light on her and when she looked down he was on his knees proposing! IT was so Funny, but she was surprised and hysterical.

Whatever you do make sure it is very romantic... every girl dreams of her proposal almost as much as her wedding day. Do something exciting like take her on a hot air balloon ride and have a plane go buy with a streamer on the back asking her to marry you... or take her on a horse carraige ride.. umm what else... you could buy a bunch of really pretty fish.. put them in a kiddy pool or a tank and put a sign that says "out of all the fish in the sea, honey will you marry me?" and stand behind her.. then when she turns around be down on your knee with the perfect ring... good luck and congratulations!

Make sure you tell her how much you love her, and can't imagine the rest of your life without her. That's important. Almost every girl I know wants a man to propose on one knee. Very romantic! And, it's a story that she will be able to tell your daughters and granddaughters.

When it comes to rings, does she like cluster rings or solitaire rings?
My best friends husband proposed like this:

They were in the mall, and Jason asked her if she would like to go into the jewelry store. Of course, almost all women will immediately say yes, as did my friend Sabrina. They looked around for a second, then they came to the engagement rings. He nonchalantly asked her which was her favorite. She looked and looked, and finally decided on one. He dropped to one knee right there, and asked her. She was very happy, and every one in the store clapped for them when she said yes. It took her a moment to get it out, because she was crying so much. Jason said it was the longest 5 seconds of his life, because for a second there, he thought she was going to say no. She said she would never forget the expression on his face. This whole story is one of her fondest memories. That was ten years ago.

If you are certain she'll say yes, then it's pretty safe to ask in public. If you are not certain, it's best to ask in private.

Good luck!! I hope the two of you are very happy. LOL!!

If there is an amusement park, nearby, take her on the ferris wheel.
Have the ring in your pocket. Propose to her on the ferris wheel.

Maybe, you could wait til the state fair comes and propose then.

I saw that in an old movie that was made back in the 1960s, I think.

I thought that was SO romantic!

The zoo is another great place.

I'm not engaged, nor am I in a serious relationship, but I would like to suggest one thing.
Make your proposal something that fits who she is. Something you know SHE will love...not necessary what others have done (though if she likes what others did then consider that). I would think the more you make it fit who she is, the cooler it will be. Not that the proposal in itself wouldn't be cool. Just an idea.
Have fun!

Don't go crazy. Do it in a way that will be special to her and is still you. I bought the ring and carried it around with me for an entire day. I proposed to my wife while we were on a trip to the San Diego Zoo. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me in front of the big cats. Very simple, very memorable, and we celebrated with a Panda Ale. We will be celebrating our 8th on August 1st. Good Luck Bro!

I would say you should gear your proposal based on how your girlfriend's personality is. I would've been way embarrassed to have my fiance propose to me publicly (like on a jumbotron or on cable access). However, if she likes those grand displays of affection, you should go that route. Hopefully by now you know her romance style. Still, you can't go wrong with a bunch of flowers, a beautiful ring, and heartfelt words. Just don't forget to get down on one knee.

If your girlfriend is hooked on a particular TV show, you could try asking her to marry you as a commercial during the show. Depending on the show, commercial time is not as expensive as you might think, and it's an interesting story for the TV station to use for their own marketing. (That's what I did, and it ended up repeated on the evening news.) Call the TV station and ask to talk to any of the Sales Account Execs. They may be able to help you produce the commercial cheaply, or even free, or you may find everything you need to make your own commercial on your own computer.
