I want to learn basic party dances. No robot crap or bring-it-around-town. I want to learn the electric slide (no idea what a grapevine is) and 2 person slow dances, like you would see at a wedding between bride/groom, bride/groom's parents etc. Thanks!

edazedaz, *****. Others, even if you can't type it out, if you have a clearly written website, that is perfectly fine and would be very much appreciated!

There are DVDs and books out there, plus you can find dance step descriptions and diagrams on the Net . . . but, don't use any of those! You need a teacher. Self-teaching from a book can take you from clueless to ridiculous unless you know what they're talking about. Look up dance schools in your area or call a bridal/tux rental store. Often times they will have business contacts for dance teachers who teach dance to people getting married (these lessons can be private).

Colleges now teach different types of dances as PE courses. My daughter took a ballroom dance class and it was hard to get into because so many people are wanting to learn different ways to dance. Also try children's dance schools or your loca YWCA. A lot of times they offer adult classes too.

Why don't you take dance lessons at a local place that offers it.
