"G-Man (short for Government Man) is gangster slang for an FBI agent.

Gangster "Machine Gun" Kelly reputedly coined the nickname while being interrogated in September 1933. In 1935, the term became fashionable and gained more widespread use with the release of the film G Men starring James Cagney."
