Format the drive in which you are having XP.

The other way is to keepthe XP cd and then a dialog box will appear where you can see the option of uninstalling it.

Win XP does it's best to prevent you from doing a format from itself. Some of the Linux installations will let you do it as part of the install. Personally, I like Partition Magic; it lets you do pretty much anything you want with you hard drive. If you start a new install of XP, and pay close attention to the options, when it gets to the step about choosing where to install, you can delete the existing partition with Windows at that point; that would help prevent carrying over any odd problems that a simple reinstall is likely to allow. It's best to do a reboot after deleting the partition and make the replacement a slightly different size to insure that setup really reformats the drive, and doesn't just re-enable the existing format.

If you have a Windows XP CD you can boot the computer from the cd. Go through all the steps until you get to the part where it asks you what partition you want to use. Select the delete this partiton option. Once you have followed those steps you can eject the cd and nothing will be on your harddrive.

Go to www.seagate.com, they have a program there called Disc Wizard, I use that to reformat my external harddrive.
Otherwise, do like everybody else said, and reformat with a Operating System bootable disc.

NO MAGNETS!!!!! MAGNETS BAAAAAD!!!!!
