The American Mainstream Media continuously focuses on
The Breakup of the Soviet and Yugoslav multi-ethnic breakdowns,
The Invasion and Occupation Of Iraq,
And Inevitable Attack Of Iran,
In an Attempt to somehow portray the United States as some sort of Solid Invincible Union.

Yet, others argue that the United States is in a pre-Revolutionary Period,
With Soviet or Chinese-type civil wars , And Ethnic Rebellions brewing in the Immediate Future.

The question is already being posed that if Palestine can be divided into a Jewish and Arab State, Why can’t Independent African American, Hispanic, and Native American States be Carved out of the United States?

Which brings to mind the Overwhelming Influx of Mexican Immigrants into the American Southwest.

Could you be completely scared of changes and new ideas because you are completely and utterly insecure. Maybe you should revert back to using an outhouse and not showering for several weeks. Because keeping old 'values' but accepting new technologies doesn't make sense. Did you know that homophobic people tend to be homosexual? Did you know that we in fact invaded this country about four hundred years ago? Did you know that 'left wingers' are just looking out for everyone's best interests and not just for the lining in our pockets? And finally, the last time I heard, this is still a free country (at least what we think) so anyone should be able to burn the flag and be free of prosecution. So, with the views that you and others have could create another hostile environment (not that it isn't already) and lead to a civil war...left wingers and right wingers separated but "equal."

I feel that such an occurance is unlikely if not impossible. The US government has become to strong in my opinion. And while there are some sturdy citizens I doubt that there is enough capable arms bearers to start let alone continue any kind of civil war. Also the reasons you mentioned probably arnt enough to get a stable minded citizen enraged enough to go so far. Whether or not its a good thing that people today lack the drive and or ability to once cause a civil war or changing of government will be determined by the choices of our current government. I sincerely doubt that such an action will be condonable at any time in the near future, and proudly support my current American government in its efforts to do the right thing even when I occasionally or often dissagree with many of its decisions.

It's funny you should mention that! Did you notice that the 'hippy flag-burners' during the Vietnam war were actually right? If they were listened to and not treated as society's scum, millions of inocent soldiers, women & children would still be alive today. That war was over Poppy seeds and today's chemical drug war.

Actually yes there could be another civil war. Civil wars happen because the divide between two factions that disagree becomes so wide that there is no way for them to coexist peacably. Out of the things you listed I think the most likely would be over the issues of gay rights. But its also possible that the two political parties could grow so far apart and radical that could also spark a civil conflict. I just dont think its that likely because the job of a political party would be to preserve the country that we have.
