Some guys might think its cute, but most of the ones I know like outgoing girls. The ones that like shy girls also expect you to get "out of your shell" so to speak, and to be less shy.

That depends on who's the shy individual...if it's a girl it's always looked upon with embrace, as if only girls should allow that kind of emotion. On the other hand if it's a guy it's somewhat pitiful and embarrassing. However these days a guy's shy portrayal is viewed as just selfkept attitude or self-centeredness. In my opinion I just think sometimes we have nothing to talk about! Even if we're around people at the time...like they say at school: silence is gold!

I think being shy can hurt you in some social settings. But i won't say it is bad because there is a personal reason why you are shy. Not everyone is open and outgoing. I am also shy and have always admired the outgoing types but it took me until 48 to learn to love the shyness about me. I always say I am the strong, silent type.

There is no good or bad about shyness. There are only things that may be more difficult for you due to your shyness. What is getting in your way when you refer to shyness. Most often it is fear, what is the underlying fear, what people think, that you might make a mistake, that you don't measure up or what other negative thoughts are you having that cause this to be difficult for you. If you question these thoughts you may be able to be less shy.

well, it's ok, but not really good or bad. i was shy until my children started school. somehow dealing with the public school system brought me out of my shell! If you are shy, i recommend forcing yourself to become more outgoing. realize that everyone says something stupid and embarrassing every now and then. I took a public speaking class too, after my kids started school, and became a "reader" at church. now, i can talk to anyone a bout anything at anytime! and smile while speaking if it's appropriate!

depends of the level of shyness
I would say that being shy gives you a very vulnerable disposition and doesn't always make people suspect you of anything.
However, as society progresses, being shy isn't always a solution. The world is scouting for openess, you know.
