I can't imagine why you want a cat. Instead of providing a safe home you would just be putting it back on the streets. Is it even altered? If not you will be contributing to pet overpopulation in a big way. You mention the "bad things" that happen to outdoor cats, you must have an idea of what these things are. Instead of dealing with a depressing, violent outcome "later", you can prevent such an incident by keeping the kitten inside or better yet, do not take the kitten at all.

Why are you even getting a kitten if you can't have it inside for atleast 4-5 days while it adjusts to it's new home????

How old is the kitten?? If you boot it outside the moment it arrives it will either run away or be attacked by other cats/dogs in the neighbourhood. If it is under 6 months how do you expect it to defend itself???

"forget about the bad things that can happen to an outdoor cat, I will deal with that later" ... how will you deal with that later if it is mauled by a damn dog!!!!!

You cant make an animal 'outdoor'! I think you need to consider not taking this animal for the animals sake!!!!!!!

Your question scares me!

Honestly, if you know how dangerous it is to have an outdoor cat, and you're still considering putting it outside, that's not responsible at all. Especially a kitten.
I know that my kitten is always safe when I wake up and come home at the end of the day. I dont have to worry about him getting hit by a car or getting into a fight.
Maybe you should reconsider getting one.

Whats the point of getting a cat if its going to stay outside? Looking at it through the window? They need affection. You cant just throw food outside and consider that love, sorry doesnt work that way. just get a fish if thats what you want.

I feel bad for the kitten. It sounds as though you are just going to bring home a kitten and leave it outside. That is sad. Why have a cat if that is what you are going to do????? It needs vaccines and neutering before it should even be let outside. You do not leave a kitten outside. That is just sad. It is nice you will "deal wit" what can happen to outdoor cats later. I guess that will make the kitten feel better when it is mauled by a dog, or tortured by kids, or hit by a car. You are a poor pet owner and it would be best for the kitten to just get hit and get it over with. It isn't going to have a very good life anyway.

I am just perplexed as to why you feel you need to get a kitten?????? You are not going to have it sleep with you, or sit on your lap while you are watching TV. What is the reason????

Do you mean for your cat to go outdoors eventually. That would make more sense. You can't send your kitten outdoors right away. It's like putting a baby outdoors, you just don't do that. You have to wait until the kitten is fully vaccinated and fixed so that you can consider letting it go outside.

I have 2 cats and they prefer to be outdoors. My door is always open to them, however, in case of bad weather and to eat. I'm not sure if a cat left outdoors completely will run away or not. Also, my cats are grown. Perhaps you should not get a kitten if you cannot provide proper shelter for it.

lf you can't provide a proper home for the kitten - don't get it.
YOU may be able to "deal with all the bad things that can happen to an outdoor cat later," unfortunately the poor innocent kitten can't. Once it's been cornered by a dog, chased by a big tom cat, poisoned, stolen by some sicko and tortured, set aflame and killed, or sold to a research lab - it's too late.
You have NO business getting a cat if you care so little about it, and can be so blase about its' safety. If you want something cute and cuddly that you have to exert any care for or concern about - get a stuffed animal. You don't have to neuter them either. Something I'm sure you will "deal with later" - after either HE has sired countless litters of unwanted kittens, gotten into countless fights with other "toms" over females in heat and territory, been injured countless times and finally crawled off into some hole to die alone never having known a day without fear or hunger or SHE has given birth to some of those litters of unwanted kittens - tried to nurse them and keep them healthy - only she can't because some male cat got her pregnant again - and she can't find enough food and she's cold, and sick and scared, and lonely and dying --------------------------------
All because someone wanted a cute little kitten but didn't have the most basic of human decency - to TAKE CARE OF IT!!

You can't force a cat to be an indoor cat or an outdoor cat. Yes, you can make it live outdoors, but it might not be happy and might not live long, esp if it can't fend for itself.

Let the cat do what it wants to do.

Don't get the kitten if you are not going to bother to take the proper care of it, they get diseases, freeze and get lonley too and have to suffer from other animals too, a kitten outdoors? You are going to get a baby and throw it out! Why do you even bother? Maybve your parents should have made you stay outdoors when you were born.
