I've seen cats use the toilet and I would LOVE if mine could do that. My youngest cat is five yrs. old. Probably too late to try right? Do any of you have toilet-trained cats, and if so, how did you teach them to use it?

Someone asked this question the other day, here is my answer again. Hope it helps.

There are kits you can buy. You really need to have at least two bathrooms because you need to leave the training pan on the toilet until your cat is completely trained. The kit consists of a pan you place under the toilet seat. In this pan you place a small amount of litter. You introduce the cat to the new litter pan and as he gets used to it, you gradually tear out center pieces of the pan until eventually, there is no litter and no pan. It truly works and there is nothing funnier - at least to me - than walking in on your cat while he's sitting on the toilet.
Now the down side...
My cat had a bad experience going Number Two on the toilet. LOL It splashed his butt and freaked him out and after that he would only pee on the toilet so we had to have a litter box anyway.
Good luck.

Don't be rediculas, keep a litterbox. Try a littermaid, worth the money. What if someone is in there and the cat has to go? Well, you will find the remains in the floor, carpet, clothes, beds, and then it will be out of control by then. It is not normal for a cat to use a human's toilet, oh that is gross! Don't even try to do this, it will back fire on you. Go ahead and sit on the toilet after a cat has peed or pooped on the lid, oh nasty!!! If you have a cat that is very good with the litterbox, don't mess with it, the cat only knows to go there so don't mess around with that! You will regret it.

Ah wouldn't that be a trip??!! :)

Never tried with any of mine but I believe there is a mock loo seat you can buy that sits over your seat, it has a little tray you put kitty litter in. Try to get your cat used to using that then if it works gradually take it away and see if the cat continues...

Good luck!!!!

I've heard of it from at least two trust worthy persons but I never saw it yet.I think you have to start young but they don't usually like to be on anything they can't sink their claws in to stop from falling.I'd really like to see it.
