ok, my quetion assumed those were incompatible, what would you say is more important, and i said happiness, not pleasure
I know very well the difference between happiness and pleasure
so far i have only received like two appropiate answers
I could set up an example to specify, but then my question would be reduced to a "what would you do" question, and that is down right silly, i dont think i should "dumb down" the question to get a decent answer

I serve God and I am very happy. Why can't you serve God and be happy at the same time?
If you call being happy getting high or getting drunk or sleeping around all the time then you need help.
Jesus can give you that help. He will show you how you can serve Him and be happy. Happiness believe me does not come from a hangover or not remembering what you did or why you did it or waking up wondering if you slept with someone who may have had AIDS. I hope and pray you come to the realization that the wild life is not the happy life. The wild life is the stupid life. The wild life is putting your life on the line to feel temporarily good. Christianity is a permanent feel good. I am not saying you will never have another problem, that you will sail through life on easy street. I am just saying that you will always have someone there who will try to point you in the right direction.

Would you trade all the wealth in the world for your soul? What does God want from us? To put it in a nutshell, the bible says to love God with all your heart, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor. What is one way we can show God that we love him? Obey His commandments, along with the 10 and the great commission (which commands us to share our faith) we are to serve God by serving others. You must become a servant to others if you want to be great in the kingdom for the greatest in the kingdom is the servant of all.
So, I'd have to say yes. I'd rather suffer for God than to be happy here on earth. I don't want a good life. I want a good eternity. Not that I've had to really suffer compared to those around the world who get tortured and some are martyred for the faith. Kinda puts it into perspective considering all I have to deal with is ridicule.

When someone came to your door asking a piece of bread, you'll be moved and sometimes would give him more than what he had asked for. Do you feel happy after doing it? That's serving God and be happy at the same time. It's only conflictive when you send him the bill after wards.

Well you see, if a person has wisdom then even if they are not particularly thrilled about what it means to serve God from day to day they wouldn't be happy doing something else because their conscience and their intellect wouldn't let them be happy.
Think about it this way. The Bible tells us that our lives here are really just a very short period of time during which we have many opportunities to either choose to do what seems best for that moment of time, or to choose to engage in works that the Lord has prepared in advance for us to do that will have an eternal impact.
1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are coworkers with God; you are God's field, you are God's building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise architect I have laid the foundation, but another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay, other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work shall be made manifest; for the Day shall reveal it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall test each one's work, as to what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built remains, he shall receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, but so as through fire.
To draw an analogy, would you be happy working all week knowing that you were going to collect a pay check on Friday that you needed to pay your rent or get kicked out and put on the street? Or would you be happier calling in sick every day and doing whatever you wanted to do knowing that you were going to get fired and not have any money to meet your bills?
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, in accordance with the things which he did, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the fear of the Lord, we persuade men; but we have been made known to God. And I also hope to have been made known in your consciences.

I think it's possible to do both. Attend church, pray. That's serving god. I mean, unless you're only happy when you're breaking the ten commandments or something, then you are serving god no matter what you're doing. God wants to see all his children happy.

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart".
The GREATEST desire of my heart is that God would use me! I feel honored and most joyful if I have the chance to serve God. A group of friends went and cleaned a single mom's house--she was tired & fried-- We had so much fun!
Actually, God doesn't bring me happiness as much as He brings me pure unadulterated JOY!

By serving God I am happy. I wouldn't be able to be happy without my God and him in my life. My life would be nothing without him

Yes, assuming there is a god, because pleasure doesn't equal happiness and is only temporary.
