You know Malissa T.
You pulled a cork from a champagne bottle making thoughts that I haven't thought of In years....Through the cold smoke that comes from that just opened bottle, Like the breath of a new life,
I do think of my favorite Ice cream Shoppe.
It was at Sun Ray Drugs in a early Mall. I'm talking 1962.
I....16 and she....14. And first love coming to fruit the way the apple trees hang with apple smell and make fruit. My '53 Ford, driving up Charring Cross Road, Turning on Route 40 and three blocks to a right turn and SUN RAY DRUGS. I would find a space and when I did I would cut the mooter and pull the hand break and feel the car settle. Diane waited like a young lady 'till I ran around the car and opened the door for her. Seeing her reach for my hand put me in a smoke of thought. I reached her hand through that smoke and pulled Diane to me. I don't know why at sixteen and fourteen.
inside Sun Ray, we walked to the soda counter....Green venial seats of chrome held us. We ordered A Hum Dingier and two spoons and two straws. I had to save the other five bucks in my back pocket, I wanted a pack of smokes and it cost $1. 50 for the Edmonson Drive In that night..and $2.00 for Pizza and Coke's.......That left me another 29 cents for another pack of smokes, 17 cents for a gallon of gas.
That's the best ice cream and that I ever had.
Sun Ray burned down about a year later. I remember the horrofic fire. and I remember crying, with Diane's arms around me. 1967. They don't make icecrene shoppes like that. They don't make any more Diane's or Jerry's or 1953 Fords.
Love Ya,
Jer

Here in Towson MD we have Moxley's which is a cool place, they charge by weight. We also have Rita's Italian Ice, and they sell custard and gelatis.
The all time champ for me is the Arctic Circle up in Churchville MD, and a new place called Broom's Bloom Dairy in Creswell MD. Both are old fashioned, though in different ways. Arctic Circle is like a 50's ice cream drive-in. Broom's Bloom Dairy is a new place, but it is straight from the farm and hand made there.

I discovered this place accidentally by taking a wrong turn.
Brock's in Yuba City, California. They make all of their ice cream the old fashioned way and they have been in business for like 40 or 50 years.
I love the chocolate with peanut butter ribbon going through it and my Handsome Hubby loves ther super yummy chocolate Mint chip.
