The U.S. has a homicide rate 3 times higher than Canada, and 8 times higher than the UK. What can we do to relieve this problem?

1. Impose tougher penalties.
2. Sell guns only to responsible individuals; never issue gun permit to those who have previous criminal conviction.
3. Violent criminals should not be paroled.
4. Increase the number of the police officers in each city.
5. Neighborhood watch.

That one is easy.
Here's what we do:
Lie about the number of homicides.
Lying about national problems is business as usual in a lot of countries - especially when it's the government that is doing the killing (like China and several African dictatorships).
Canada doesn't really count as a country - it's just a suburb of the US.

Don't get into gun control, you're treading on my rights.
Homicide is a personal issue, those that kill are personally 100% responsibile for killing. It's not Marylin Manson, rap, cartoons, or George Bush. People who make the choice to kill are the criminals not our society. People who say otherwise are taking the responsibility away from the criminals, they are called bleeding heart liberals.

Have the government lead by example. If the government solves all it's problems by killing people what kind of lesson does that give to it's citizens. A country of aggression = a population of aggression. Just listen to all the talk on answers right now: bomb, bomb, bomb, kill, kill, kill

tougher consequences.lethal injection is too tame.if we adopted other execution methods like neclacing,cave of roses or the dry pan then that would be a deterrent.
