The liberal media wants people to be confused over that fact. That is their hope. You can see it in the headlines: "immigrant this and immigrant that..." They omit the key word on the subject: ILLEGAL.
It's the same with "affordable" housing. (except for habitat for humanity which is a great program) Why don't they simply tell the truth and call it "subsidized" housing? Neighbors are subsidizing the housing for other people through higher taxes. It doesn't benefit current home owners or most buyers at all.
Answer: Because the masses are ignorant and easily manipulated. They are confused and do not know the difference.

Sure member of congress are clueless to this despite the out pour of Americans saying it loudly in one ear and out the other so it seems congress just doesn't get it. Not even the police know who is legal or illegal it's illegal to even ask

Of course they know ... but since they are pro law breaking, the only argument they ever have is that those who are against illegal immigration are racists .... not a sufficiently valid argument I don't think....

If people don't understand this difference, we should just go ahead and close the public school system.

people understand but many use language to try to confuse the issue.
My favorite I have heard to date is: "Undocumented Americans"
ah..hello, just cause you break the law to get here does NOT make you any kind of American.
