Lou-Lou, there's another alternative: get a clip-on nose ring to enjoy the same appearance without having to make a hole in your nose. It looks a lot original. And you don't need to endure the pain.

Also, from what I've seen people with nose piercing, it's sort of inconvenient when it comes to sneezing and cleaning, not to mention with all the screwing and studding.

So, if you're a fashion follower and want a crazy, punk and trendy look, try for clip-on nose ornaments. They will enhance your beauty and glamour and give you a stylish look just the same physically.

I recently had mine done as well and it's normal to get yourself all hyped up and think it's going to hurt a lot. My piercer was very kind and answered all of my questions patiently and made sure I was comfortable with what was going on. She explained everything. I held on to the chair's arms for dear life. She told me to inhale and it was a tiny pinch and my eyes watered and that was it. I think getting my ears pierced was worse! I got all worried for nothing. The worst part for me was when the jewelery went in. It did not hurt, it made me feel like I had to sneeze. Still, it does not hurt. I had a little scab on the inside that fell off quickly. No pain at all. I am very surprised. I clean it twice a day with a gentle anti-bacterial soap and water. Other times, if it feels irritated or anything, I have a sea salt spray that soothes it and feels so nice. Never use Bactine, peroxide, Neosporin, etc as these will irritate the piercing. Don't play with it and don't try to change the jewelery. A small stud is best at first so you can get used to it and your nose can heal up without the jewelery getting all caught on things. And if you have any problems or think something isn't right, go back to where you had it done. They should be able to help you. Good luck.

I got my septum(like a bull) pierced when I was 14. I have a high pain tolerance, so it definitely depends on your tolerance to pain. If you get it done at a piercing parlor, then you're safe from most infections if you care for it properly. Make sure that they pierce your nose with a needle, because piercing needles are designed to remove hate piece of skin, and make room for the jewelry to be put in. When and kind of piercing is done with a gun it doesn't remove the piece of skin for the jewelry, but rather pushes it's way through with a spike-type point. It doesn't take the skin out, but rather forces it's way through leaving room for a number of problems:
- Keloids
- Scar tissue
- Infection
- Bumps/bubbles

Where as when the needle is gone through, it's a sterile needle that removes the extra skin from where the jewelry is going to be placed, and there will be a SIGNIFICANT reduction of infectious or keloid chances.

While people will tell you the people who use piercing guns for piercing such as "Claire's", "The Icing" or "Piercing Pagoda" are trained professionals, the truth is.. their only taught to clean the area with alcohol(anyone can do that), and measure the evenness of your piercing if you're getting ear piercing. The yare not trained to completely sterilize the area, nor are they trained to get the hole straight through..

GO TO A PROFESSIONAL BODY MODIFICATION PARLOR, AND SAY NO TO GUNS ! NEEDLES FOR BODY PIERCING ONLY !

Unfortunately, people will tell you to pinch your nose with your finger nails, and of course that will most likely hurt more. You’re finger nails have a larger surface area than the needle does, because the needle is only about the size of a pencil point. When the needle goes through the most you'll experience is a small pinch, like a paper cut. When the needle is through and your nose and the jewelry is in, you probably won't feel any pain unless you bump it, or pick at it.

The after care might sting, depending on your tolerance to pain, because the solution has alcohol in it, and the sea salt most places give you contains salt, which stings but does clean your piercing and keep it healthy.

Remember to follow the directions your piercer gives you strictly, and don't slack or you could end up with infections or keliods, PIERCERS AT PARLORS ARE PROFESSIONALS AND DO THIS FOR A LIVING ! THEY DEAL WITH THOUSANDS OF PIERCINGS, AND KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM !

Piercing places in the mall are NOT PROFESSIONALS and should not be treated like ones !

You have to be 18 to get your nose pierced unless a parent goes with you. Honestly it stings a little and your eye may water up but it feels like getting your ear pierced. I have 2 holes in my left and 2 in my right and one in my nose that i've had for 4 yrs. I love my nose ring. If you could handle getting your ears pierced you can definitely handle getting your nose pierced. Just make sure you keep your piercing clean. I had mine done with the gun not with needles. No it doesn't feel like when you take 2 fingernails and squeeze it. It feels like getting your ear pierced except you've got a big gun in your nostril.

Its a short sharp sting and yes it will make your eye water but it certainly wasnt too bad! Keep it clean and bath twice a day with diluted dettol on cotton bud and shouldnt have any problems! You could wait till your abit older, but thats just my opinion!

Yes, it hurts. Makes your eyes water. I recommend the punch gun opposed to the needle. I've had both done before. The gun is slightly quicker, thus slightly less painful.
