As an animal lover I feel I am able and confident enough to start making a job (at least part time) out of it after I finish University. I have already done some work at the RSPCA (England) but want to take it further. Is anyone aware of any kind of Consultancy jobs or any jobs linked with SPCA/RSPCA or any other rescue centers. Any advice or info would be appreciated. How do you get your foot in the door to this career?

Around my area in the States we have a "shadowing" program that allows students to follow a professional for a week or two while they're on the job. Usually the connection is made through a veterinarian or a veterinary school.

Check with any veterinary schools in your area or nearby and see if they have any leads that might help. You can also look on the RSPCA website for any news: http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RSPCA/RSPCARedirect&pg=RSPCAHome

And, this website has a index of Animal Rescue centers in the UK: http://www.animalsanctuaries.co.uk/sanctuaries.asp?B=M

Here's a couple more to help you get started in your search:
http://www.pet-rescue.org.uk/
http://www.iar.org.uk/

Don't be afraid to write or call some of these groups and tell them what you'd like to do! You never know what you might find!
