depends on where you live, in my area both are about equal in the population
my hubby is French and i just love his accent...
but think of it this way... what ever language you take are you going to work hard and keep trying to learn it? or will you forget it all as soon as you are out of school (like most people)
what do you want to be when you grow up? where do you want to live?
if you know Japanese you can get paid big bucks while living in Hawaii....
language is a very personal thing, good luck in your choice
lmao, its not so hard to learn French and you don't have to gag lol
the hardest part is the sound you make after pronouncing the letter "r" both languages will be hard because you have to learn the difference between the masculine words and the feminine...
but since they are Latin based you can easily learn either one or even Italian and still have a lot of words that are similar
meet the language teachers first before signing up, that will give you an idea of how the year will go and how hard it will be for you to learn
gets some tapes from the library in each language and see what feels best to you

Well, Spanish is probably more useful to know, especially if you live in an area with a growing Hispanic population. However, I would advocate for French. I took 4 years of it in high school. Yes, it is a little harder to learn, but you will easily get the hang of it. Plus how much fun would it be to take a trip to France.

Hello I am french but I have also learnt spanish.
The structure of the language is excactly the same. Same work with the verbs and granmar. and a lot of words that look the same. The sentences are also built the same.
For french people, spanish and italian are the more similar languages. It seems to me that maybe spanish would be more useful in your country. But probably not more easy.
We both are latin countries, so, don't believe the people that consider it as more easy as french.
It just means that they have not tried french...
Good luck in your choice! Maybe you should just listen to both languages and choose the one your ears prefer!...
:)
