If you love me you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always the Spirit of truth which the world CANNOT accept because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you and will be in you. -John 14 :15-17

Very real, very true. What is the "advocate"? Have you got it? Have you had it? Do you still have it?

Great Question.

I think it's wonderful scripture referring to the coming of the Holy Spirit. And, it's very true that the world (even some Christians) cannot accept that there is a Holy Spirit and that He can live within you. I didn't believe it either until He came into my life. What a change!

One correction, the scripture (your last sentence) correctly reads "because He remains in you", not "it remains in you". The Holy Spirit is an entity, not an "it".

My Bible states it a little differently. The point is, Jesus is promising to give us a counselor (the spirit of truth) to hold within us. The world doesn't always see the truth, but we, as Christians do. We know that God is in our hearts and we are his Children. We know the truth and we will always be truthful if we are obedient to the commandents.

Not quite sure of the question but here Jesus is clearly talking about the Holy Spirit which He will give to all believers. The world cannot accept that as they choose of their own free will to live in the darkness, but as the children of light we have the Holy Spirit of God living within us.
Praise God for His Holy Word, and His mercy endures forever.

Jesus said He would never leave us alone so this refers to the Holy Spirit which is always with us. He is speaking to Christians and the Holy Spirit resides in the hearts of all Christians.

If the world cannot see or know the spirit of truth, is it really a truth? Should one have to be taught truth? Isn't it observable of itself in the world?

This sounds phrased to airs of superiority.

Men are blind to the Spirit. Only Jesus can open a man's eyes to see the Holy Spirit, but that takes belief on our part. And belief is a matter of the will.

So today, Whom will you choose? :)

Yes this Advocate, Comforter, Spirit of truth, Counsellor, Wonderful, Holy ghost, whom the father sends in his name is the one who shall teach us all things and bring all things to our rememberance, whatsoever God has said unto him. I 100 percent believe, that you must have the Holy Ghost in order to be taught correctly what God wants to know and understand in his word. no bible seminary school or college can teach you what the Holy Ghost can. For who knoweth the thoughts of God.
Pray, Pray, Pray to God to give you understanding. Put your trust not in man.

I am an advocate for God.

Isn't preaching in the churches enough?

If you believe that god loves you and is always with you...why all the desperate searching in the lines in the bible?!

Relax! Enjoy god in your every second and every breath and chill and give him a break!....For God's Sake!
