When Tyson first exploded onto the scene it was amazing. But he was a different fighter when he started. Excellent trainer and he was fighting using the positive, honorable, side of his warrior spirit or energy whatever.
When he knocked someone out he rushed to them making sure they OK, very humble in interviews. Following his fight plan throwing wicked mean hooks combos uppercuts.
Then after the split with trainer, wife , entourage, inner demons etc. He changed no respect trash-talking negative side began to overwhelm him in jail, the rape, loss to Buster, past street attitude... you know the rest.
I think Evander would have beat him in their primes. (Evander vs Tyson). I Think Evander would win.
Ali just had two many skills for Tyson to beat him barring the big knockout. Fast wicked hard jab, best footwork in the heavy weight division and knockout power, great combos. The rope-a-dope wasn't just Alis way of tiring out his opponent, his other reason was to prove he didn't have to dance his way to win (or run away as some people called it)
(Ali vs Tyson) I think Ali Wins.
Now if Tyson wouldn't had all the problems and kept growing and developing his footwork, and boxing skills with a positive mental energy. Also his original trainer... He might have been able to beat them both....

Ali was about 15 and a half stone at times, even tho thats lighter than Tyson was its not by a mile.Ali was faster and more agile, like against Liston he'd have known not to go toe to toe with Tyson and just dance circles round him.Tysons also very easily wound up and Ali's motormouth would infuriate him,he'd probably lose his discipline and leave himself open to big punches,or get DQ'd. Ali was also 6ft 4 whereas Mike is 5ft 11 so Ali would have a reach advantage too

Arthur above called it pretty right on.
Ali of '66 was quicker, but lighter than Tyson would be.
Ali could win by keeping it a boxing match and keeping Tyson on the outside.
However, if Ali ever tried that rope-a-dope crap with Tyson, Mike would have busted Ali up with those serious upper-cuts of his.

Ali 66 as long as Tyson 88 didn't take off a chunk of his head. And probably even then.

Ali would own Tyson. Tyson had that one monster of a punch, but he'd have to connect for it to be effective. Ali 66, Ali 76, Ali 78...wouldn't make a difference.

Got to say Tyson 88 only because of his awesome power. Ali was a better boxer

Ali was without doubt the better boxer but Tyson would probably win, i'm sure he was a lot bigger and heavier than Ali was in 66.

Ali would win.He would ride out the early storm from Tyson and then outbox him and stop him.Ali was a thinking man's boxer,Tyson was just an animal.Just look at the fights with Joe Frazier.
