For one, the first answer is wrong. It isn't true that only the first marriage counts. I will be my fiance's third wife, and I truly do believe that this is fine, he had to do something to occupy himself while he was waiting for me. We'll be spending our forever together. Your daughter does deserve a bridal shower! If this is what she wants, I believe the maid of honor typically gives the shower, perhaps you could ask her wedding party if any of them have planned on giving her one...if they haven't or don't, they may be willing to help you. I think it's lovely that you want to do this for her. It's not inappropriate for you to give her shower, it would be if she did...but it's loving caring gesture of you. Best of luck with everything!

It's fine to have a shower for a second wedding, although it's usually considered inappropriate for the bride's mom to have a shower for her (1st or 2nd wedding). Her bridesmaids or other friends should give the shower. I assume she is having an actual wedding with lots of people, because it's tacky to invite someone to a shower and not to the wedding.

Ask your daughter's attendants if any of them are planning a shower. If not, I think it would be a very nice gesture.
You should also ask your daughter if she wants a shower. She may feel left out because she never had one the first time around, or she may not feel like it's appropriate. You'll never know unless you ask.

Traditionally the maid of honor gives the bride a bridal shower, but i dont see why you wouldnt be able to give her a shower seems to me that she missed out on it for her first wedding.. i dont know details, but she might enjoy having one. I also dont agree with the thought that its like fishing for gifts if you give her one. Fishing for gifts would be if she gave herself one

You give showers for people in OTHER families, not your own family. When you give a shower for your own relative, it's too much like fishing for gifts. However, it's OK to "help" with expenses and so on as much as you wish, so long as some non-relative is the official hostess.

Since this is her second wedding, she may already have all of the traditional gifts that she would receive at a wedding shower. Consider this, setting up a honeymoon registry for her. No one can have to many trips and you can set up the honeymoon registry with her or set it up as a surprise for her. You can then let her guest know the address to the honeymoon registry and they can view it and add things like candlelight dinners, spa, or even pay to upgrade their accommodations. You can also set up a wedding website for her. There is no set up fee and the wedding website is also free. Please visit http://www.ytbtravel.com/godsgirl2travel once on the page click on book travel. Then select the extra tab at the top of the page and then select honeymoon registry. If you need any additional information, please contact me at cassandra@godsgirl2travel Please also extend my congratulations to your daughter

it's very tacky to give your own daughter a wedding shower. if someone else does, than ok but do not ask. i was forced to give my sister in law a shower, I thought it was rediculous that she had no other friends who would give her one. (tells you alot about her).
