The reward of the site is to get answers to YOUR questions and there ia a charge in the form of points. You get your answers by helping others.

They give you points when your answers have a thumb up, this should show the question is good since people are referring to it and they should give you points for that too. The question is : Would they keep the questions up for future reference according to this? Do they delete questions?

I think your right, there should be a system of points depending on the amount of answers a question attracts, that would help people to raise more interesting questions

what does it matter how many points you get or lose, lets not get carried away with all this but enjoy hearing other peoples ideas and opinions in what I feel is a safer environment than a chat room

yeah they shouldn't take points away.. but if they earned points then people would ask more & more stupid questions [more than are already out there!] just to earn points, just like people answer questions with 'don't know' or something else stupid just to get points.
if that made sense.
