Has anybody noticed that Israel is targeting strategic economic targets and avoiding civilian casulties? This is in contrast to their enemies suicide bombings, beheadings and kidnappings.

ISRAEL WILL ALWAYS BE AT FAULT BECAUSE OF ALL THE ISLAMIC BLEEDING HEART SUPPORTERS AROUND THE WORLD. WHO HOPE TO APPEASE ALL TERRORISTS AND PRAY THEY DONT ATTACK THEM. LEBANON, BACKED BY IRAN TO THE TUNE OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS (OR WHAT EVER CURRENCY THEY USE). A YEAR. THEY HAVE CITIES WHICH ARE OCCUPIED BY HIZBOLLAH TERRORISTS. ALSO SUPPORTED BY THOSE AWFULLY NICE SYRIANS. HIZBOLLAH TERRORISTS HAVE BEEN LAUNCHING ROCKETS FROM INSIDE LEBANON'S BORDERS. HIZBOLLAH HAVE NOW COME OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE PALESTINIAN TERRORISTS. WHO HAVE NEVER STOPPED ATTACKING ISRAEL. SO WHAT DID YOU REALLY EXPECT ISRAEL TO DO. SIT BACK LIKE MOST OF THE NON MUSLIM WORLD AND DO NOTHING. WELL THANK WHOEVER YOU WANT TO THANK, THAT ISRAEL IS CAPABLE OF TAKING CARE OF HERSELF, AND HER PEOPLE. ITS ALSO A NICE REMINDER TO ALL THOSE MUSLIM COUNTRIES THAT ISRAEL WILL NOT TAKE **** FROM THEM. UNLIKE US IN THE WEST. ISRAEL IS ALSO THE STOP GAP BETWEEN THE WEST AND THOSE MUSLIM COUNTRIES. ONE LONE COUNTRY AMONG THE HORDE.

Israel knows it must avoid civilian casualties if it doesn't want the international community, including the United States which is currently reticent on the matter, breathing down its throat. This is not to say that Israel has avoided civilian casualties altogether; they have killed dozens. But they have at least tried to stick to military or economic targets so far.

Let us hope it remains that way. Included among the civilians currently being held hostage within Beirut by the Israeli government (in the sense that they cannot escape the city without endangering their lives) are my two children (aged 8 and 15) and their two cousins (aged 9 and 14), all American citizens, there to visit their Lebanese relatives, along with my children's Lebanese-American father, Lebanese-American uncle, and American aunt. They and millions of innocent Lebanese civilians are caught in the middle of the crossfire, just as the innocent citizens of Haifa, Israel are caught in the crossfire there. It is in no one's best interest for Israel to stop showing restraint.

EDIT: To tell the truth, after today, it doesn't look quite so much as if Israel is showing as much restraint as they could...and should. Do you know how many Lebanese civilians have been killed because of Israel's gung-ho wrecklessness? Do you know how many innocent civilians are being held hostage to their hawkish overreaction? Whether a soldier is beheaded by a Muslim terrorist or an innocent civilian is killed by an Israeli bomb, they're both dead, dead, dead. And right now, there are far more who have been killed by the Israelis than by Hezbollah.

It's unfortunate that you find it so easy to dismiss the lives of people you don't know in a country you've never visited.

Israel dropped leaflets telling civilians to oppose the Hezbollah freaks and stay away from their hideouts, before the Israeli air force started reigning down righteous justice.

Israel has always been the ultimate model of restraint and humanity. For 58 years now, Muslims have been trying to exterminate every Jew in Israel.

Yet morons continue to give lip service to how the violence is not the fault of the Palestinians, Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Syria, Jordan...

People always seem to confuse resolve and determination as a lack of restraint on the part of Israel. You are right though, as able as the IDF is in dealing with attacks against Israel, they have never inflicted the damage to their enemies of which they are capable. As sad and unfortunate as is the loss of life, one finds it hard to have sympathy for terrorists who have continued for so long to disrupt the peace of Israel and then cry out to the world as victims when their actions are met with Israeli retaliation.
