WOW this is a first. You want to get rid of your Kitten cause it doesn't meow? Strange enough. Well, I would say "would you get rid of your mother cause she doesn't cook or clean for you? Would you get rid of your kids or car cause they are yelling and your car doesn't have the right UMP? It's not a reason to give away a living creature that wants to be your friend. I would be thankful that it doesn't meow.
Solution: IT might be pre-mature and thats the reason it doesn't meow. Also the kitten might not yet know how to meow. Yes, sounds strange enough. It just might be little squeeks then all of a sudden you get meowing thru the house and you are going to be yelling at it to be quiet. Just count your blessings now. If you don't want the kitten. Just put a Free Kitten sign. If not call your local Vet. They might take it.

I think that is really quite a stupid reason to get rid of a cat. You took on the responsablity of the cat you can't just dump it. I mean if you had a kid that deaf would you just dump it on someone's door. You took on the responsability of the cat deal with it. Not to mention a meowing cat is so annoying. They meow at you for food or when you accidently step on it, when you leave it locked in the house or it wants in the house. Get a grip!

How cruel. So what if it does not meow. Does it do anything else. Take it to the pound and pray everyone else that is looking for a kitten does not want it because it does not meow. Hope you don't have any faults.

1) If you are in New York City, please consider placing your kitten with Animal Care and Control, NYC: http://www.nycacc.org/ They claim they have never turned away any animals.
2) Do not adopt any other pet unless you are committed for the long haul--whether the cat does not meow, or whether you are handling spraying, or any other minor inconvenience you cannot foresee when you adopt. You will do both yourself and the domesticated animals a favor by steering clear of taking in any more pets until you are mature enough to handle the responsibility.
I wish your kitty well.

My oldest cat didn't start meowing until she was almost 2 and believe me it was a blessing, but why would you get rid of a kitten that doesn't meow.

Why don't you take it to a veterinarian and have it checked out to make sure nothing really serious is wrong with it. Don't just throw it in the street that's not very fair to the poor kitten.

I so agreee with the person who commented. Yes, take them to a local shelter. Dont just put it in the street. All local animal shelters want you to bring them to them. and DONT let it loose. What if cats ruled the city and let you loose and you starved
I dont think you would like that

People here seem to suggest you should keep this cat. I suggest you bring it to animal care and control immediately. You are far too irresponsible to own a pet. Also, be advised that deliberately abandoning an animal (i.e. dumping it in the street) could be a felony.

Our kitten stayed silent for about 4 months and my husband made it a toy that swung, then it wouldn't shut up! And she got beautiful, when we thought she was going to be homely, and remained our sweet, clean, friend for 17 years. Find it a home if you don't want it, don't throw the kitten out to die. It won't understand being out there. Please.
