Why do you think that customer service has gone by the wayside, I know it can't be an easy job, and the pay is probably low, but I find when I get good service, I thank the person profusely, or over tip them.
In flight the other day the pilot announced to the passengers not to make the airline stewardess upset, blew my mind, I thought she was there to serve us.

Don't you think in instances where you are spending your hard earned money, that you are entitled to a little more in the service industry, than you sometimes get.
Sorry, I forgot they were called flight attendants these days, all the more reason to be attentive.

Very good question. I'd say it has a lot to do, with lack of incentives, and poor management. If I get bad service, I don't return to a place, for awhile.

You're living in a post 9/11 world. I wouldn't make a stewardess upset.

As far as customer service? I don't think it's dying at all. Somepeople are good at it and some are not. And some customers are very rude as well.

It seems to be going down hill at times yes. But we too must show respect to the people giving us customer service or it won't get any better. And yes its not good to upset the swewardess on a plane because she has alot of people to serve not to mention putting up with crying kids that are having a fit because they couldn't get thier way.

Because the customer service in outsourced to India and places that don't have a clue what they area talking about and are just reading (poorly) a computerized script.

Just a sidenote: If you don't want to upset the flight attendants, better not to call them stewardesses.
