i was thinking about a boxer but im not so sure . i want a big , playful , dog

If I were you I'd go to the library and get a book on dog breeds.There are a lot of factors to consider.
For instance, if you want a large dog, you want it to be able to have a lot of outdoor activity. If you have allergies you want something like a poodle or bichon-frise that don't shed.
In general the whole retriever and labrador family of dogs have wonderful, playful dispositions, and are gentle. But you want to do your research well first, because taking on a dog is a big commitment, and it would be hard to get one attached to you and then decide you didn't want it.

A purebred Mutt! Any dog with Lab in it's recent genetic past would be a big, easygoing, and playful mutt. Boxers are HYPER!
I have a little "miniture lab" who when full grown will be about 30-35 pounds. He's got a sleek, low maintainace coat, cute floppy ears that he will wear pulled back over his head, small brown eyes, and a very jaunty walk. He's also playful without being hyper. He also appears to have Dachshund and Aussie Cattle Dog in his background.
He's also smarter than a purebred lab, and unlike many purebred dogs, is very mellow and even tempered. He's so mellow emergency vehicles screeching down the street don't bother him.
So find a mutt at a local shelter. Check out this site to find shelters in your state: www.petfinders.org

Get a lab mix. The lab has very easy going moods and is very protective of owners and good with children. Ours lived for 14 years and was a great dog...we now have a westie very playful and gutsy , not a big dog but very smart. we also had a beagle.great hunter but,..not a great pet.

If your thinking about getting a big playful boxer..the boxer across the street seems nice.. when I see him outside all he does is play and jump and frolick. He is extremely playful. It sounds like boxer will suit you fine.

Golden retriever or Labrador. They are playful, and you don't have to worry to much when their around other dogs. Boxers can get vicious toward other dogs and people.

Get a lab!! My lab, Jim, is the best dog ever! MOF, our female is preggo right now by him...(she's a lab too) They just have great personalities...very playful and very friendly and also very protective.

Either a golden Retriver or Black Lab. They are a fun loving gentle big dog and extremely loyal and friendly.

boxer are great dogs funny dogs and very loving you will have alot of fun with one when they are puppies the are groffy love all boxers good luck
