The metal itself can cause sensitivity. You know how metal reacts with cold or hot. With cold it hurts. Try sensodyne tooth paste. It worked for me.

I don't work in an ortho practice, so my answer may not be 100% correct, but I have wore braces myself, and yes you are probably experiencing pain and sensitivity because the teeth are moving. When you wear braces, you have to move the teeth very slowly or you will brake the roots off in furcation(growing process), and then you will be in big trouble, so you are probably at a point of noticing more movement then ever, also did you get a new arch wire at the last appt. are you wearing new rubberbands than you have wore before?? These are things that could make them sore, but call the office this week and they will see you and help with the discomfort..........also, take up to 800mg ibuprofen every 6-8 hours if needed for pain!! Hope you feel better

You are having tooth sensitivity. Your dentist can be called and make the appropriate recommendations. You paid to have him take care of these kinds of issues. So leave a message w/his answering service.
Try the Sensodyne if you like. Avoid cold fluids. Take tylenol and wait for his recommendations. It is your dentist's problem to take care of....it is the braces that are causing the problem.

Call your dentist now and tell him or her what is happening. You may have an infected tooth and you might need a root canal. Your dentist will most likely make an emergency appointment for you, today or tomorrow. Believe me if you do have an infected tooth you wil not be able to wait for 2 weeks.

Try using a sensodyne type toothpaste until your orthodontist gets back. If that doesn't help at all after a few days, then call the office and ask if anyone is 'taking call' for him. Someone needs to respond to your pain and address it ASAP.

YOu need to call your dentist. That is what you pay them for. Call the office, if the office is closed get the emergency number. Pain is considered a dental emergency.
