Tie her up. After about six months of being tied up consistently, she will have learned the property limits and never stray.

You need to watch the show called "The Dog Whisperer" or buy the book with the same name. The show is on NGC (National Geographic Channel and is excellent. Cesar Milan is the king of dog psychology. Since you have access to the Internet, you can see some clips from this show. Just do a search on the net for "the dog whisperer. You'll be blown away - this guy is good and you can definitely rid your dog of this unwanted behavior.
In a nutshell, you need to become the Pack Leader. Your dog is currently the pack leader and until you become the pack leader, he/she will continue doing what they want to do...not what you want them to do. Good luck !

Yep, leash the dog....take it on walks if you have to or consider getting a fence. She may eventually get over it. My dog got hit by a car and she had to get a steel plate in her leg. I'm still paying for it and this happened years ago! She runs and everything just fine now, but she was lucky!! However, she never went back into the road again!

I have the same problem. My Chesapeake Bay Retriever is 1 1/2 years old and we haven't had any luck with all usual methods. I think rockhound 345 has the answer, a shock collar.

put her on a leash and have a friend drive off when she tries to chase pull back firmly on the leash an say "no" in a firm voice . Keep trying until she doesn't bolt then praise her with a snack (cheerios are great) when she doesn't chase

Have a friend drive buy and then spray the dog from outside the car window with one of those "doggy off" sprays. The pup will then think that cars stink and won't chase them. It worked for my dog.

There is a very high possibility that she has Collie blood in her. My way is brutal but effective. Use firecrackers especially if she chases YOUR car. Another way is to open the door suddenly as you are driving so as to belt her one. You must be cruel here to be kind. Been there done that it worked.

Buy a shock collar and when she takes off after a car, give her a little ZAP. It's not cruel, it works and it's not as cruel as letting her run in traffic and getting her guts crushed out of her rectum.

Leash that dog.
I tragically hit a dog who was very well mannered and listened very well until he saw someone he loved pull in across the street and he just ran right in front of my car. If you love your dog, please leash him. He won't mind, really.
Peace!
