If your looking for God the last place you should look is in a church. The only thing you'll find in church is hot chicks and pedophile priest. The main reason I don't go is because its full of two faces A$$ Holes that act like they'll never hurt a fly while in church but break every commandment stepping out of the church.
Religion kills and has killed more people than any thing eles on earth. Just read the bible its all about killing those that don't go with what the bible preaches whether its Noah's ark or that nice little fire. or the little tower to heaven that pissed of God and created racism to keep them from working together, its all a load of bull.

I don't. It amazes me that people believe literally incredible stories that go back 1000 or 2000 years and treat them as factual record. Also, whatever was understood thousands of years ago doesn't necessarily apply today - they thought cats were the devil, that the earth was flat and that flying was impossible.
Just because something makes one feel good doesn't mean it's true, no matter how hard one wants to believe. I can have faith jam will cure cancer but... I suggest a doctor for good measure...
Why are people so attached to their religions anyway? Religion has not gotten us an inch closer to peace among humans, as a matter of fact, religion is often the sustaining argument in favor of war.
We need to base ourselves on rationality. It is untrue that religion guides us morally, look at all the crooked politicians who claim to be religious. Rational people can be ethical just by the fact they understand their place in the world/universe,/etc.
It is the pinnacle of human hubris to think there is a god who created the universe for us or that we may be made in his image. Why would a godly being wanna be like us? What's so great about this lot? Greed, envy, murder, indifference to fellow man, etc.
Why assume a god has intentions or thoughts and that he sees things in the light of good and evil? Should ants assume god has a great homing device to find his nest? Should birds assume god is really good at finding worms in the ground?
A little humility would help, we're evolved animals, not very, just a little evolved.
No, I don't go to church.

I do not attend church because although I do believe in God and Jesus and could be counted by the ignorant to be what is considered "Christian.' considering, I do not believe in organized religion, I believe it is hypocritical and presided over by ignorant, greedy charlatans... Including and especially the Catholic church! I have been involved in different churches and sects of Christianity and found all of them to be disappointing at best. None of the preachers are aware of the true meanings or the original texts and translations of the bible and most of them preach a message based on gain and "Blessing" using guilt and scripture to achieve their livelihoods.

I believe it is the responsability of anyone who speaks up for God or in His name to do it corectly gleaning all of the information they can either for or against it before speaking at all either way. Most people base their own personal opinions of God and Jesus christ because of something some moron taught them, mistaught them, or failed to teach them. Church is the biggest source of athiesim in this day and age as a result... How can that bless God or serve man or anyone?

I believe in the ancient text. I believe in the words of Jesus written in red as direct quotes from the mouth of Jesus and I believe that the bible is the INSPIRED word of God that must be researched more than anyone these days is willing to do to find out what is true and false.

So to answer your question... I as a believer in Jesus Christ and the scripture and the gifts and works of the Holy Spirit... WOuldent be caught dead in a church of any denomination and the only way I would go is so that I could accompany my childrnen to see if they would like to one day attend because every human beings walk through this life is personal and the only way to happiness and contentment is to hold your own beliefs in your own heart and discover all you can about everything... To know for certain that you are evolving as a person and a human being.

Jesus said "On this rock I build my church." and the book of revelation tears apart every organized religion in existence. The rock that the church is built upon is man... In his heart and in his soul and God is not found in a building unless man brings Him along in one accord presided over by the spirit Schekinah... The Glory of God.

Because it is an honor to be in the house of the Lord, and we are to attend church as a place to worship the Lord.

I'd go if i heard the church was waaaaay non-conformist...and the church actually talked about religion as a practice...not as the "only way to live"

I'd also go if I felt it would help me out with my personal life (ex: Networking...childcare...free stuff)

If they sold more than intolerance and hatred towards other people of different religions, and didn't tell me I was going to burn in hell for everything that I do I would be so there.
