Get treatment for the depression first, and then confidence will come. Depression is anger turned inward, so once you battle the depression and work through the anger then you'll feel better about yourself. You can read lots of articles on the Internet about depression, and about working your way through it. The world needs you, and knows that you can do it.

Here's a question: how are you treating your depression? Are you on medications? I know it's awful to have to go on antidepressants, I know it feels like you're giving up or something, but they can help a lot. Likewise, If you are only taking antidepressants and not seeing a psychiatrist frequently, it may help to see one more than just every few months to get a new prescription. Lots of doctors prescribe medication and expect the rest to take care of itself, but regular sessions (once a week or every two weeks) can really help if you are having trouble getting back into the swing of things even though you feel better with pills. If you have friends or family you are very close to, tell them you want to get your confidence back up and ask for help from them. They may get you out of the house more or boost your confidence just by being great friends to you and letting you be a great friend back!

Depression is a tough but curable disease. Buidling self-confidence is in accordance of the initial reason of the depression.
Medication is extremely usefull to control and decrease the level of depression. However, the patient should follow a psychotherapy in order to find the real reason of a depression.
While the depression is stabilized, the psychotherapy will help you to rebuild your self confidence.

Start with a complete physical examination to rule out any medical basis for your depression.
You may want to check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org to see if your depression is low blood sugar linked, as that can be handled by diet, and can be at the root of low self confidence.
Changing oneself to be better is a wonderful goal. Best wishes.

By doing things, lots of things, like paint ur room, clean out the attic, play golf , walk on the beach, do everything and any thing to keep ur mind busy, then you'll want to focus on one thing you really want to do, then go on and do it... hope this helps, depression sucks...
