I've had 3 Dentists do root canal on same tooth! They can't get to the tip which causes pain. Do I go through the pain again or give up and have it pulled? To me that's a waste, but what if the 4th Dentist can't get it?

Have you gone to an endodontist? They specialize in root canals and difficult dental problems. I had one tooth with extremely long and tangled roots. It took several visits but it was taken care of by an endodontist. Try to save your tooth if you can.

If you have it extracted, remember to have the tooth replaced by a bridge or implant. If you do not then you run the risk of have other teeth supererupt or shift or tilt into the space where the tooth was. Many times dentists will take out a tooth and not mention this, until problems occur and it is too late!
Did you have general dentists do the root canals or endodontists (root canal specialists)? Are you sure it is the tooth? Sometimes people actually have what is called Trigeminal Neuralgia which can present as apparent tooth pain and is treated with root canals. Only the pain does not go away.
If you want to treat the tooth again, go to an endodontist and relay your concerns. The next step would be an apicoectomy, where they go thru the side of the bone to get to the tip of the roots, and actually 'trim' off the tips. Sometimes this treatment will end up being more expensive than having the tooth removed and replaced with a bridge or implant. And there is no guarantee of success. You just have to factor in all the options and possible outcomes, and cost. See what works best for you!
Good Luck!

My personal opinion is that root canals can be dangerous. The canal can harbor bacteria. I've talked to many dentists and they assured me this was an impossibility. However, unless the inside is 100% sterile when they cap it, bacteria can get trapped in there. I think as long as you don't have 5 root canals already, go ahead and get one. They are horrible and not fun. They're also costly. Pulling the tooth has no side effects aside from pain and aesthetics (and possible teeth shifting if you've had braces). The benefit to getting it pulled is cheaper, and depending on what you believe - don't have to worry about it harboring bacteria.

I would go see an endodontist, which is a specialist that only does root canals. There are other ways of doing a root canal that a general dentist can't do. Hope this helps. Good luck

Recently my dentist sent me to the endodontist to have a root canal done because my nerve was crooked and regular dentists are not equipped to do root canals on a curved nurve, this may be your problem. If it is I recommend never going back to the dentist's who did those wasted root canal's on you!! Go see an Endodontist!

Go to an Endodontist they can do whats called a apioectomy. Because they cant get all the way to the end of the root, they can cut off the end of the root, sounds extreme buta couple of stiches and a day a of soft foods is it. No biggie, and its saving your tooth. Its definetly worth the shot. Also, they usually dont take dental insurance, so youll be paying out of pocket and filing for it yourself, so call around to get cheapest rate. Hope this helps

pull it otherwise they wiil have to go in sideways through the jaw to get at the tip which the did to me. Now Iafter 10 yrs I'm going to have it yanked anyway because for another reason it keeps getting infected.
They always want to have you keep your teeth by default. If you have a cronic tooth infection think about the probability your vascular health may be in jeparody!!

Depends on where the tooth is. If it's in the back and unnoticable in your smile- have the thing pulled and be done with it.
