They are not always thinking in that capacity, and neither are the rest of us. We tend to put our needs and wants before the needs of others and until the day arrives where we all want to help each other, poverty, hunger, and homelessness will thrive.

It's seems to be the "way of the world!" Rich people will always buy things they don't need - because they can! Poor folk won't be able to buy the things they need! It's the result of a capitalist society - we live in a capitalist society in the United States! Who controls the most capital controls and has the most wealth. The everyday working person does not control the capital.
Children and adults in the world are still suffering from hunger - because of selfishness, greed, lack of consciousness, and racism or any number of human personality traits!
We don't care about individuals that we see everyday - how can we care about individuals we don't see - it's not possible!
It's probably not a crime to see a crime happen and do nothing about it in most jurisdictions in the United States - to live in some areas and neighbourhoods it's probably best not too!
It depends on your beliefs whether you will be judged morally for what you allowed in your life time and did nothing about. It depends on your beliefs and moral standards individually - that's probably the problem - individually!

hey, easy on the self-flagellation there, buddy.
As long as there are despots and megalo-maniacs running nations, there will be poverty and suffering.
As long as it's easier for folks in a civilized society to beg (including from the government) than it is for them to fend for themselves, there will be poverty and self-entitlement.
The whole world isn't civilized--even some countries that claim they are aren't.
Some folks are in a really crappy situation. They probably didn't ask to be there, and there may or may not be a way out. The best thing the rest of us can do is to help them better the situation as we can, and not beat ourselves for the things that we can't fix.
Some folks are in a crappy situation and would rather stay there than get themselves out. The best thing we can do for them is to let them stay there long enough to figure out a better way.
We should all strive to help each other out and be better neighbors. That doesn't mean we need to be tried and convicted because someone somewhere is in a crappy situation.

It is called being human.
No matter how fast we supply food to the hungry they will reproduce so fast we will never catch up.
Their Governments, and the War Lords should be tried and executed for not taking care of their own people.
YOU DO watch crime happen every day and do NOTHING.
YOU ALLOW the TRAINING FILMS of TV, Media, Comics, News, etc. to twist the minds of our Youth, (and now adults) to the point that our moral standards are the laughing stock of the world.
They don't laugh any more - they cry!

That is the result of capatalism and an unequal distribution of wealth. This generally occurs because of a natural instinct to want to provide your offspring with the most comfortable and highest fitness life, while ensuring their sucess by limiting the opportunities of others.

You live in 2 circles: 1. your circle of influence... which is small. The things inside your circle of influence only include what you can directly affect. 2. is your circle of concern. This circle can be a big or a small as you want it to be. My solution to the world being f-ed up and I am oncerned about it? I will strive for a career in politics.
