"Just make sure there is no ingredient in your lip gloss like alcohol." Actually, several alcohols are very emollient. They bind moisture.
No, your lips cannot become addicted to lip gloss. However, you can get used to how it feels so that when you don't have it on, your lips feel funny or dry.
Without it, your lips simply return to their natural state. If they feel dry, then this may be a sign of dehydration. I always know when I need to drink more water because my lips start to pull a little bit (like right now).

If you want a really good lip gloss go for the Sweet Talk ones at Victorias Secret.
Be sure to use some light chap-stick under.
But that lip gloss is wonderful.
It works long and good.
Its $7 but well worth it.

you are just used to it- thats all. if you drink alot of water- that may help. but in general- unless it contains alcohol- which it shouldnt!- lip gloss doesnt dry out your lips. Look for some that have vitamin E. that can help and make your lips seem fuller. Good lip gloss usually costs a bit more but you get what you pay for! Try out any of the Burts Bees line- they rock and are very comfortable without being slimy! (eeeww! dont you hate slimy lip glosses?) anyhow- im sure your lips are fine! good luck and happy kissing!

Lip gloss has moisturizers in it and will keep your lips from getting chapped. It's not that there are side effects it just that your lips are accustomed to getting moisturized, use a lip balm, chap stick or cocoa butter.
Overall your lips need to be moisturized and if you not substitute that then they will get dry. Some ppl have dry skin and most likely this can affect your lips also.

Just make sure there is no ingredient in your lip gloss like alcohol. Some of them have that. I've been using lipstick for 30 years and my lips are very supple! : )

Yes, try using some plain old petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to help you out. Toss the lip gloss and lipstick. Use only on those special occasions.
When you do I recommend Aveda products - they do the least amount of damage to my lips.

yes it does. *sighs*
i loved good-smelling chap stick when i was younger so i always used it and then i used more stuff like lip gloss. now my lips can't naturally moisterize my lips which is a bad thing. i can't go two day without chapstick/lip gloss.
oh, and i have that same lip gloss!!! and i love it! ^_^

Lip gloss can not alter the chemical composition of your lips. You are simply used to wearing it. It's a habit. (there are worse habits in life!)

I BELIEVE IT DOES, JUST AS WELL IF U WEAR MAKEUP ALL THAT TIME . YOU LOOSE YOUR NATURAL PIGMENTATION ON YOUR SKIN. SO YEAH YOU WOULD LOOSE THE NATURAL OILS OF YOUR LIPS, BUT HEY SWITCH TO CAHP STICK AND LITTLE BY LITTLE DITCH THE LIP GLOSS
