Why did God give us free will when he knew that we'd abuse it? If he knew we would abuse it why did he get so angry about it?

Because God is beyond comprehension, and to assume to try to understand his will is futile.

God, as I believe you are talking about is all knowing, all powerful, and completely infallible. To try and understand the nature of a being who can create and uncreate all of existence at his whim is foolish to say the least.

God's motives are his own, and if you believe in God, you must also believe that what he did he did for reasons that are correct to him. Since he is all knowing, all wise, and all powerful one must then assume, that even if we don't understand those motives that doesn't make them anymore or less correct.

And really, when talking about Free-will we talk of a paradox anyway, a concept that has eluded philosophers for millenia. If we live in a world of predictable outcome, as we do, isn't everything predetermined. Is there some external soul that allows us the right to deviate from the path that we are destined for, if so how does this soul work? Where does it come from? Where does it go? Does the existence of the soul that is necessary for free will then necessitate the existence of a God?

All of these questions are impossible to know from our current human perspectives. We are too limited by the wiring in our brains. No matter the effort we find ourselves bound by logic, the laws of cause and effect. Our minds cannot seperate from the idea that something must be A or B, that it cannot be BOTH A and B. Yet we live in a universe where this is clearly false, created by a God that is even further beyond our understanding than some of the basic concepts that make up the laws of physics.

What was the alternative? Robots? Pod People? Why did God desire to have fellowship with people whom He knew would fail? Why did He go to the trouble to come up with a plan to save us? Why did Jesus love and die for people who clearly hated Him? Why does God hold back His anger and judgement even for a second?

because free will shows who is stronger willed and knows the right path, therefore, even though He knows who are the wrong doers, they still are determined on a fair scale.
God does not get angry, He forgives all.

Stop it now! Your being too daft!

I don't believe any deity created free will. To me free will is something you are born with that one learns to use only when they learn about societal norms and mores. Once society teaches you what it has deemed 'right' and 'wrong' then one can make their decisions within that construct exercising free will.

God wants us to come to him willingly and not by force. He wants us to love HIm willingly. This way only the obedient and faithful, and loyal will be able to enter into the kingdom of God.
He gets the real thing when we come to HIm willingly.

we dont really have free will as all of our decisions are based on additional information and not just on what we really want to do.usually things like law and nature govern these ideas. this question also gives rise to another.....god???

He trusted us. What a mistake he made. He should be angry with the pain and suffering caused by us to our fellow men.

A puppy has free will. But a puppy that is trained and can do tricks and not **** in the house is infinitely more loveable?
