Honey, a few years ago when I was in my first year of university, I didn't have enough money to pay my phone bill. But I tithed no matter what. I just graduated a few months ago and God has blessed me, financially and in all areas of my life.
Continue to pray about your finances, tithe and trust in the Lord. Don't tithe because you feel pressured to, just do it because you love and want to obey God. I just said a prayer for you and your finances. I pray God will find another way for money to come into your life ($12 for the rest of the month is NOT enough for 2 people to live in, God will provide you with more money and your husband with a better job).

I just paid my tithing even though I didn't have enough money for the rest of the month.
I just got a check in the mail for $1200 from deposits that were made in 1997.
Takes more faith to pay when you don't have the money. That was Christ's lesson about the widow's mite. It is easy to pay when you are rich. Paying when you are poor proves your faith.
Bill Gates can donate 50 billion dollars but it doesn't hurt him one bit.

**There was a time in my life where hubby and I didn't have much money. (He was a salesman). He was making between $20 to $100 a month. We were living mostly on savings for a few months. After the savings ran out, we also had to turn to family members to help pay our bills.
**One month in particular stands out in my mind. We hadn't had basic food for a long time. We had $20 left in our bank account. And we realized that we hadn't paid our tithing yet. Out of faith, we paid our tithing. And we had no money left after that.
**The next week, my hubby went to a regional meeting for his work. In that meeting, they had a big pot of money. Each salesperson was entered into a drawing. If their name was picked, they had 3 seconds to grab money from the pot. During that meeting, my husband was called up. He grabbed what he could. He grabbed $74. That was enough money for gas and food. I was so amazed that God would help provide for us in this way.
**Of course $74 wasn't enough to pay the other bills. Again, we had family help us with that. But, we decided to visit my parents who lived in another city. In that city, we found lots of opportunities for steady paying jobs. And my parents offered to let us stay with them. So we moved. We worked and saved. And now, we are living in our own apartment. We have enough food and money.
**My point is this. The Lord knows who you are. He can provide a way for you and your hubby to get food. If you wonder if you should pay tithing, pray about it. If the Lord tells you yes, then He will provide for the things you need. Do what you can do, have faith, and leave the rest to God. If you want to talk about it (or want to ask me questions) then you can email me. God Bless!

Ive never been in the situation. But remember the story where the woman comes and gives the two coins she has...Jesus said she gave more than anyone. If you truly can't make ends meet and can only scrape together change...but you do just that, why would you think God's response would have changed...same God...

Do you trust God to provide for your daily needs? If you truly do, He will guide you through your difficulty. It will not be easy handing over to Him that which you have tried to manage for so long, Seek Him and He will guide you.

The principle is giving. I know it's hard, but try to give something to the church.
