I clean it regularly with saddle soap, but it is looking like it might need to be oiled soon. Last time, ( last year) I used warmed olive oil.

i oil my saddle once every month to keep the leather nice and supple. i have never heard anyone who used mink oil but i recommend neatsfoot oil. olive oil is also good but the only time i ever used that was the very first time i oiled my saddle.

I use warmed olive oil when it looks like it needs it, but, I use "Belvoir" daily, so it dosn't need it very often. Belvoir is THE best tack cleaner because it has a bit of oil in it so it conditions as well. It costs a bit more but prolongs the life of your tack so it's totally worth it.

When it needs it. No one can tell you how often...the way your climate, care, use is may differ from everyone else. If it looks like it needs it - oil it. if it goes 6 months or a year or a month before it needs it again do it when it needs it, not on someone else's schedule.

I do mine about every six months or so more if it really needs it.
But I use a leather cnditioner and not oil.
It is less messy made for the leather and abosrbs better and does not make you pants messy when you ride.
