I had OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) when I was Nine. I had no idea what caused it, but when I was that age I had to wash my hands consistantly and I was scared to death of the colors green and red. I would never wear them and if I touched them I had to wash my hands. My mom took me to see a doctor about it and I was diagnosed with it. I had it for a couple years but it went away.

But now that I am 13, I think it's coming back.

Here's the symptoms I have...

I'm constantly checking to see if the doors are locked.

If I think something bad while my hand is touching my head, I have to wash my hand so the bad thought doesn't stay on it.

When I inhale I take the air from one part of the room but when I exhale I have to look in a completly different direction.

And when I go to plug something in, I plug it in then take it right back out then I plug it in again. Then I do it again.

Everything has to be in 3's.

what do you think...

Is my OCD coming back?

the truth is.. it is coming! trust me, im exactly the same as u and i dont even know what to do with myself!! i have to wash my hands at least 50 times a day, i cant touch the bathroom door knobs and my clothes can not touch the ground, other wise, i need to wash it and i cant be barely feet at home because im afraid that germs will get stuck to my feet and i hate dust! i cant stop cleaning!! i cant sit on the floor nor even touch the floor with any of my body parts. everything i do has to be straight or i will have to do it again! when i fold my clothes, it has to be exactly the same size how i want it. oh god, the breathing thing.. yup, thats what i do too, i inhale in one spot then exhale in another spot because i dont wanna breathe in recycled air! i dunno but i can go on forever with that! dont worry girl, u're not alone!

Howdy. I too have OCD and I empathize with what you are going through. I had it as a child and did not get diagnosed until I was in my late 30's. It is very important that you know that you are not alone and that you have support.

I do not mean to alarm you but I think it best that you know the truth about OCD. While OCD may seem to go away, it can always return, or it may present itself in new ways. It's how we deal with the anxiety created by OCD that gives us the power over it.

I suggest you either read yourself, or have your parents read a book called, "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing. it is by a Judith L. Rapoport, M.D. It is a book about the experience and treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. You or your parents might see your experience reflected in others stories.

I would hope you have access to medical care that includes access to an anxiety disorder clinic in order to learn new skills so that you may best learn how to deal with the symptoms.

I wish you well and remember that you have OCD but the OCD is not who you are as a person. I hope you have a home with lots of love and support. All the best

Sounds like you could truly benifit from some professional help. If your under a particularly greater amount of stress than usual, it doesnt suprise me that it coming back. There is help, some meds are very helpful. This is, by the way, a problem with brain chemistry and therapy alone usually cannot heal it.

The diagnosis of OCD that distinguish OCD from ordinary, mildly intrusive worries or brooding. They are the following:
Symptoms cause significant distress
Symptoms take up more than 1 hour a day
Symptoms significantly interfere with work, relationships, or daily functioning
The person recognizes that his or her obsessions and compulsions are unreasonable or excessive

I'm no professional but I definitely think that it is coming back to you.

If you are obsessed with cretain numbers, then yes. I think that you are having a reoccurance of your OCD.

Try calling your doctor again and ask his advice. Maybe you need what you had when you were nine. Or, ask your mother or father what you think you should do.

Maybe research it a little, and see if you are expierience a relapse.
