You could do some upper-body strength training while your leg heals. Get some free weights and a book or video and learn how to do bicep curls, shoulder work, etc. Every bit of muscle you gain means you'll burn more calories even when you are at rest -- it raises your metabolism.
You may also be able to get back to doing your crunches while your leg is still in the cast. You can keep that leg out straight and just bend the other one.
As for eating habits, try to cut back on snacks in between meals, first. If you drink sodas or juice, switch to water. Eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains than anything else. And eat breakfast -- studies have shown that people who eat a regular breakfast tend to eat less naturally during the rest of the day, and have an easier time losing weight and maintaining weight loss.
Hope your leg feels better soon!

U can try using diet pills, i've used hydroxycut and have lost 10 lbs in 2 wks. It doesn't contain ephedrine but it does have lots off caffeine in it so uit will give u lots of energy sometimes you will feel jittery but u can lower the recommended dose if it makes u uncomfortable. I've heard of an even better diet pill called Lipovarin, u should check out the website. Also when i went on a diet, all i ate was healthy choice microwave meals 3x/day. Choose the ones with the lowest carb content. But since you have a broken leg, you probably need xtra nutrients for healing. Just try eating normally and try using diet pills. If u have a heart or blood pressure conditions, consult with ur dr 1st. hope this helps ya =)

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

Fruit in the morning till 12pm. (fruit piece or fruit shake w/a little water). Do this every morning, don't break the rules.
Eat turkey breast, tuna, chicken, or egg sandwich or a salad for lunch w/ a piece of fruit. (just don't overdue it on the protein, your body doesn't need that much in a serving).
For dinner have clean meats and fish (chicken, salmon, haddok, scallops) no red meats, no pork stuff and have them with salad and steamed veggies. Also, eat some pasta/rice with veggies and or beans, but on pasta days, skip the meat.
Have another piece of friut for a snack.
Have some almonds once in a while (raw works best for the body)
Stop eating after 8pm but if you cannot, then have a small piece of fruit or have a small snack before bedtime. Stay away from lots of sugar and white breads (refined) and eat fresh instead of canned most of the time. Stay away from too much salt too, that will just keep you bloated esp. if you aren't moving a lot.
You really cannot do much with a broken leg unless you hop hop hop on one foot. You can try just walking with your crutches and swing on them around the house.
Hope this helps.

I know your pain. I was in a cast for 8 weeks after surgery. I lost the pounds using my crutches. Yeah, it was a lot of labor, but I had to do something because I could not stand laying around all of the time. Also I ate, but I did not eat a lot. I didn't starve myself, but I limited my portions and did not eat a lot of sweet and fatty foods and I made sure I drank plenty of fluids. I hope this helps. Get well soon.
