Hummer is the civillian version of a military humvee. Maybe because these hummers have thick body that gives them more protection in case of crashes. i think its also heavier than some SUV making less rollover. Humvee has more safety features so i guess its a good thing if you have money to spent.

Hummers aren't cool especially with thier low-Mpg. I'm surprised people don't to go broke just trying to buy gas for those stupid things.

Just what do you mean by old? Do you mean the people who can afford them without missing payments or paying cash? You know vehicles mean different things to different people. If you buy a car to please yourself rather than to impress other people,and you can afford it, buy it. These people who complain about buying such big vehicles make me wonder. If someone gave them, say an Escalade fully-loaded and absolutely FREE, would they say no thank you, I don't want it? Or would they give it to charity to help transport people with disabilities who need big vehicles? I'm feelin mean today folks.

well... i work at a car dealership and 99% of them say their going thru their mid-life crisis. the others say that they havent had a chance thru their life (like because of paying for school and everything else that comes with having kids) so that now their children are out of their house they can get what they have wanted for so long but couldnt afford when their kids were at home!!

Because they are the only people with enough money to afford them! They've typically got a house, have had children, and are looking for the next big ticket item.
