I personally think racism is highly overrated. I grew up in a community with only one black family - they were never discrimated against nor excluded from any activities. But then, they didn't play the race card either. Everybody got along fine.
I've been to places where I've been treated badly by people who are black, white, oriental, etc... but I don't automatically assume that it's because of my race.
Your perception could be skewed based on where you were raised or they simply don't like you. It doesn't have to be a racist situation.
Have you been difficult to deal with? Do you complain a lot or get into disagreements with other scouts? Did you want to go to camp or are you there because your family made you go?
There are so many factors involved it's hard to say what is really going on.
If you truly think there is an issue, then call your parents and have them take you home.

I am very sorry to say this, and I don't mean to offend anyone else reading this, but,,,, From my years of being a minority my self...(my whole life) I have found out and came to the conclusion that the most racist people in this world or country if you like are the black people. They are the first ones to discriminate them selves by telling other races that they are doing or acting a certain way to them because they are black. I don't believe in that. (here is a little story,,, A family member of mine whom is a black man, was driving 55mph on a 35mph zone, got pulled over by the police,, and the first thing he said was "why the hell you white folks are harassing me,, I know is because I'm black right?" That is one example that proves my point. I say you let it go, and if you don't like it, you can always call home and asked to go home. it is not mandatory to stay at a camp. They can not and will not keep you there against your will. Let all the racist thought out of your mind and start by trying to grow up and listen to your elders. I hope everything goes well for you.

Exactly why do you think everyone is racist? Sounds more like you're the racist since you can't stand to be around white people. Girl Scout Camp is fun regardless of your color. If you're putting yourself outside the group because you're black and they aren't, that is a problem for you to solve, not them. Try joining in and treating the rest of the girls like you'd prefer to be treated rather than treating them like the enemy. If you can't do that, call your folks and go home.

first of all how old are you... and if there are black staff then how could the be racist. Is it that you are uncomfortable because you dont want to open your mind. It is 2006. Plus Its girl scout camp... are you just looking for a reason to go home? Go talk to one of the staff and tell them how you are feeling. Try to open your mind and just be yourself and step outside your box. Make some "white friends" we have to go out of our way to make you comfortable and we still get accused of being racist.....so make an effort see where it gets you. Youll be fine.

If they are saying racist things then you need to leave and report it.If not then you may be assuming too much. When I was a boy I lived in an area that was mostly Black ,and I was the only white kid around. After I got over the simple fact that I was the minority and started joining in the fun,it turned out that the problem was me and not them,I felt left out.I started having fun.Give them a try,if they are racist then leave. Please remember there are idiots in every crowd.

I think you are avoiding the issue-which is, that you don't want to be there. Stop with the whining about white people! You sound like a racist yourself. If you truly think there is a problem, go to one of the black staff. I'll bet they don't see a race problem.

Comunication is always the ticket to straightening out misunderstands. Express youself and how you feel. I have found that most people don't realize when they are imitating others and will be nice to explain that to you.
What a great opportunity to learn how to walk in others shoes for a week. Take this opportunity to grow.

How are they treating you like crap? Have they made racist comments? Stop acting like the oddball and go talk to people! No one cares about race anymore... I think a lot of people misunderstood your question. They think you are mad BECAUSE there are black people there
