I'm moving to an apartment, and I love this dog a lot, everytime I let him out in the yard, he wants to come right in should I keep him or take him to a shelter, Please help!!!!!

The only concern I mostly have is by having him in the apartment and not having space for him to run freely, is that a good life for a dog?

If you love your dog a lot and really want to keep him and the apartment allows pets than you should keep him. But you will probably have to take him on walks a lot so he can go to the bathroom and you could also take him on long walks if he has been stuck inside all day, that way he can get all his built up energy out. But if you're not up to that then you could take him the an animal shelter but there isn't a 100% chance he will get adopted or get adopted to a good home. So it's probably best to keep him if your up to the responsibilities...

I guess I don't understand the problem. Are you not allowed to keep him in the apartment? You should find one that allows dogs, you owe it to your pet. You can't honestly mean that you just shoved him out the door to get rid of him or you don't love your dog or understand anything about them. If you absolutely cannot find an apartment that allows a dog, find someone that knows a lot about dogs and can take good care of him, or take him to a shelter knowing that he may not end up with a happy ending, but will at least have a roof over his head and food to eat.

You should keep your dog. You love him and I'd bet he worships you. Where else are you going to get complete devotion? I have 2 big dogs and I could not imagine giving them to a shelter with the possiblity of the being KILLED not adopted.

You should do everything possible to keep the dog. In my opinion adopting or having an animal is no different than having children. And you wouldn't take children and dump them off some where.

Of course keep him! He'll be absolutely miserable in a shelter no matter what anyone tells you. He'll cry for you and he won't be able to eat... You don't know if he'll be treated properly.

At the very least, try to find someone to adopt him- not a shelter! Even after you give him to someone, you'll miss each other terribly, but at least you'll be able to check up after him.

Retriever`s are very smart, they learn fast. Try going out with your dog until he gets used to the place.

don't give him to a shelter he is your pet! When you take him oput just hold onto him with a leash and wait until he goes to the bathroom ( or you can sit out on the ste pso you and your dog can enjoy the day! )

If your dog's allowed in the apartment, keep him.

Mine does the same thing, but you have to establish yourself as the alpha dog; put her on a leash and walk her! When she pulls you, stop, and tell her to heal; this is going to be a pain, but worth it! They're such "big kids".....
