I have used in the past a software named Irma X but I can´t find it in Google anymore. It allowed me to access my Linux server as if I were sitting right in front of it-just as Remote Desktop from Windows.

Try TightVNC. It's a pretty good app that allows you to use VNC for connecting in and controlling your computer remotely.

You will need to adjust your modem/router's firewall and port-forwarding (I think it's ports 5800 and 5900) to allow traffic into your machine if you have a home network.
