Been like this for a week. Yes, I'm going to see the eye doctor today, but I wonder if anybody knows what's causing this.

You probably have pink eye, an eye infection characterized by swelling and redness as well as a yellowish discharge. Your doctor will probably give you anti-biotic eyedrops, take them exactly as prescribed for the infection to go away. Take care, as common as pink eye is, if not treated properly it can cause permanent eye damage

It is a condition called conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that lines the eyelids and covers the white of the eye. Conjunctivitis is sometimes called pink eye. It is caused by irritation, allergy or infection. Since, this is the first and isolated event and is unilateral, Allergic conjunctivitis might no be the cause. No irritant was mentioned, thus it is ruled out. Infection may be the likely cause.
Viral and bacterial forms of conjunctivitis can be spread easily from person to person or even from one eye to the other. They can be spread by coughing or sneezing. Bacteria or viruses can get in your eyes through contact with contaminated objects. Symptoms are itchy eyes ( like sand in your eyes), redness, sensitivity to light, swelling of eyelids, watery and/or purulent discharge (seals your eye when it dries up). You need to see the doctor because you'll need a prescription if its bacterial, you will feel an improvement on the second day of antibiotics. Viral conjunctivitis worsens on the 5th to 7th day but it gets better afterwards even without treatment.

Gross... sounds like pink eye, the doctor will probobly give you antibiotic drops to use... in the meantime, don't touch your eye, wash your hands constantly, and don't go to school or work, pink eye is horrendously contagious, if you live with other people, you'll have to wipe everything you've touched with a 1:10 water:bleach solution. Good luck.

It could be any number of things, but sounds like you have an infection in your eye, for sure. This won't matter since you're going to the doctor today, but sometimes you can clear up those things by rinsing your eye repeatedly with warm salt-water solution.

good luck.

It's probably conjunctivitis. Your conjunctiva is irritated and causing "eye boogers" to form on the outside of your eye when you sleep.

Could be a simple case of conjunctivitis. Might be an idea to check which side you sleep on and if you may have an allegic reaction to either your washing powder or your pillow material
