This news article says that, between 1982 and the present, Darwin's finches on the Galapagos Islands are CURRENTLY evolving...

If you believe in a literal translation of the Bible creation story (myth), then how can these birds be evolving right before our very eyes????? Is this not PROOF of evolution?? Where am I going wrong in believing in evolution? Please explain.....

I think Im starting to understand.....micro-evolution is acceptable, because it is proven. Macro is "a lie" because it hasnt been proven. Yet you believe a God created the heavens and earth is 6 days, rested on the 7th, put his sperm into a virgin without screwing her, gave birth is his Son - who actually existed the whole time before he was born, because he is part of the Trinity - this man did some magic tricks and a whole religion was born.

But Macro evolution is a lie. I get it now! Thanks everyone!

"Most christians do not doubt MICRO evolution but the finch is still a finch it has not become a Human. (or a humanoid bird with intelligence) Macro evolution is the MYTH"

Why does everybody think that evolution states that everything must evolve into a human? Evolution takes different paths, humans are not the only destination, nor is human-like intelligence. High-level human intelligence is thought to have spawned from a need to keep track of detailed social networks and interactions. Other species do not need this for the most part.

"Well if I were to come to you with proof of a miracle you still wouldn't believe. hah"

Only because the only 'proof' you can attribute to a miracle is the existance of God. You are assuming God exists as a means of proving he exists. This makes zero sense and would not hold up anywhere.

You are making some interesting assumptions.

1. There is a difference between "Evolution" and "survival of the fittest" or "natural selection". This is a clear example of natural selection. Is this bird evolving into a dog? A Monkey? A Giraffe?

What we're seeing here is the birds with smaller beaks can find food better and naturally survive better. Those with larger beaks die and don't pass on thier "large beak" genes while those with smaller beaks do and they thrive.

Second of all evolution tries to answers the question of HOW the earth might have been created (remember it's the THEORY of evolution, not the "Law" of evolution). Creationism provides answers to WHO created the earth (if anyone at all).

Why is it that God couldn't have created the earth via Evolution. I'm a christian and I believe that god may have created the earth that way. The creation was 7 periods of time. The bible describes each as a day, however that doesn't mean that each "day" was 24 hours. What if each day was 10 Billion years?

Evolution and Creationism are not mutually exclusive. I believe in both.

Evolution itself states that it takes millions of years to evolve.... so you are using a poor example and you have made yourself look like a fool.

How did the universe big bang itself into existence?

Where is the missing link? o yeah thats right, there are supposed to be millions of missing links in order for evolution to be posssible, too bad no one has found any yet.

If you had a planet with water, and oxygen, and rich soil, and sunlight, life would never spontaniously form from it, it is impossible...

If you set a can of green beens on the table for millions of years, A jolly green giant isn't going to pop out, that is for sure.

The truth is that the only thing that evolves is the unproven Theory of Evolution. It does this in a crappy attemt to cover up some of its many gaps and holes.

It is commonly accepted as truth because no one could ever accept the fact that God exists, no I'm sure that they would rather believe in anything short of insanity than in creationism or God. Even when all evidence is against evolution they still won't believe, maybe because they are closed minded or blind by choice.

Where were you a kabillion years ago. how do you know that the universe is that old? Is it because someone guessed and then wrote it in a text book.

The Scifi Theory of Evolution is a joke it really is, you have to be insanly blind to follow that theory, it makes me laugh to know that people actually believe in that crap... I guess they just can't accept the fact that God exist..

I feel sorry for you, open your eyes... God gives you your next breath.

the Bible says that a fool says in his heart "there is no God".... I didn't call you a fool, the Bible does.

I'm praying for you that you may see the Truth and take off your blindfold.

I'm a Christian and do not deny all evolution principles. But I do believe that God is the creator of all things. I also believe that God has a hand in all things that happen throughout time including today. Clearly some species have evolved over time, but my belief is that this is also God's work.

So they are no longer birds? What have they "evolved" into? Dogs? Cats? Simple changes in a given kind is not evolution. They are still finches and still birds.

They aren't evolving, they are adapting.
Plus, if it happens fast enough for us to visually see then doesn't that prove the earth can be only about 6000 years old?
After all, that would make your great great great great great grandfather a full blown orangutan.

If you still believe these finches are evolving, what king of creature do you think they'll become? Space-birds?

like I said to the last guy that posted this.

I have nothing against the concept of evolution but that is evidence of Mirco-evolution

Creationists only deny Macro-evolution

I believe that God made animals who adapt to their surroundings. Even humans do this. There is no proof of evolution as his theory states, which is why it is a THEORY.

no, it is in no way proof of evolution. it is, however evidence of God's set system of adaptation and survival.

the finches are still finches, when they become something other than finches (which will never happen), you might have the beginnings of an argument.
