Are you looking into buying a new vehicle? If so, here are some important factors to remember:
1. Warranty- double check what it covers, and for how long
2. Financing- see what financing options are offered through each dealership, and at what interest rates. You may find you get a better deal through your bank or credit union.
3. Gas milage- with gas prices going through the roof, make sure you purchase something that you can afford to fill up
4. How much will it cost to insure it?- you're going to have to pay for insurance on top of the car, so when you consider the car payment try to factor that in as well. Shop around to different companies to see who can get you the best deal
5. SHOP AROUND check out all of the lots! And above all, DO NOT let a salesman push you around. If the deal doesn't work for you, just walk away. You'll be surprised how quickly they'll try to sweeten it for you.
6. Test drive! Just because a car looks cute doesn't mean you'll like how it feels when you're driving it
7. Have fun!! Car shopping isn't something that we do every day, so have a great time and make a day (or more) of it!

To look for in the car: Reliability, Price, Fuel Economy, and Style. Thankfully, even U.S. car manufacturers are working hard on improving their cars along these lines, so you really aren't particularly limited by brand.
The other big thing you should think about it how you are going to pay for it. I.e. whether you can get a better deal by financing the purchase through the dealership (probably not) or by taking out a loan with the bank.
Also keep in mind that your insurance and taxes will vary based on the age of the car.

Don't buy one that is out of your price range if you think you might be able to afford it don't get it because some thing will go wrong exp. u get sick or lose u job things like that. if you mess up your credit is sucks for along time. if u buy it from a dealer do let them pressure u "some one is on thier way to buy this car," "i wont be able to get u this deal after today" this is a few things they will say

YOU NEED TO GET THE VIN NUMBER OF THE CAR YOUR LOOKING AT. LOOK IT UP TO SEE IF ITS A "LEMON" DOUBLE CHECK MILEAGE, TRANMISSION PROBLEMS-HISTORY, REBUIT?, ENGINE-IF ITS REBIULT, YOU HAVE TO REALLY LOOK AROUND THE INSIDE. YOUR CAR MAY L;OOK NICE ON THE OUTSIDE BUT IT SUCKS WHEN YOU HAVE TO SPEND MORE JUST BY FIXING IT. USUALLY BEST TO GET THE LESS COMPUTERIZED. TOO MUCH ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND THAT COSTS MORE TO REPAIR ALSO. WE HAD A 98 BONNEVILLE- ALL COMPUTERIZED AND SHE KEPT BREAKING ON US. WE LOVED HER AS A CAR BUT WE COULDNT DEAL WITH ALL THE REPAIRS. WE'D FIX ONE THING AND THEN ANOTHER THING WOULD BREAK. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD MECHANIC IN MIND ALSO , THAT KNOWS YOUR VEHICLE AND YOU CAN TRUST.
