deal with it, you became a parent (and like many other things you also lose) any chance of privacy until the child is grown is out the window

I just deal with it. Depending on which bathroom I'm in and what I'm in there for, I lock the door. The only people that get privacy in the bathroom are my husband and my 9 year old son. They both do it to me though. Because of this though, my daughters age 4 and 6 know about periods. They know that women bleed from there sometimes and it lets them know there isn't a baby in their belly. So, I guess it's kind of good in way. They won't be as shocked when it happens to them.

You need to teach your kids that when a door is closed on a room that you are in, it is closed for privacy and they should not enter. You should teach themt to knock on the door and at that point they can state what they want and you can determine whether or not to let them in. Make sure you lock doors behind you when you go into the bathroom, etc.

Explain that they should knock first- and that you need your privacy to Finnish your business- and next time lock the door when you are on the toilet.

Nothing, mom's don't get private time. Sitting on the toilet makes you even more in demand. That's when they need you the most. Its a conspiracy.

Just explain to the child that he/she shouldn't do that anymore. Don't make a big thing of it. And lock the door next time.

It happens. Just lock the door next time. Or you could do my favorite trick if your bathroom is in your bedroom. Go in your bedroom and lock that door, then go in your bathroom and lock that door. It takes them twice as long to get in and you can usually finish by the time they do.

Maybe if the child gets a nice big whiff, he/she will think twice the next time. LOL
All kids do that to their parents. No big deal really. When mine walked in on me, it really did not bother me at all.
