THIS IS EASY.
First of all, there are loads of people saying a particular car, model etc, but it may not help if you cant visualise the car.
Here is waht I would do.
1) Go to autotrader .co.uk and without specifying a make or model, simply put a min price of 1800, and a max of 2000
and specify 10 miles from your postcode.
2) after being presented with a good selection from autotrader, carefully read through, and select your top 10.
3) make some phone calls to the sellers, and simply say that you would like to view.
(your only 10 miles away, so it wont take much time.
4) if you find anything you like, politely say your going to go and have a good think about it, and that you will call back if you are interested., ( I actually like to make a courtesy call even if I am not going back)
5) Then, go to a car auction, and compare what you had previously "chosen" to whats on offer at auction.
6) pick yourslef off the floor of the auction when you realise that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you fiind privately will be as cheap as auction.
AT auction, for 2K you will an incredibly good car.
Forget most of the myths you hear about auction cars.
If you make sure that the car you bid on is from a lease company (fully serviced normally) or a finance house, then you WILL NOT go wrong.,
DO NOT buy anything from auctio that says its PART EXCHANGE or TRADE entry...it will be crap-
ONLY buy from FINANCE HOUSE / CAR LEASE / etc.
GOOD LUCK.
ALSO CHECK EBAY, BUT BEWARE ... there are plenty of cowboys.
EBAY also has a growing no of car dealers who EXCLUSIVELY sell thr ebay, they are easy to spot, and there are some pretty honest guys out there. The ebay traders are usually honest,m becuase if they arent, they get bad feedback, = business is dead... so only buy from 100% ebayers who have sold 50 cars MIN.
(BUT I GUARANTEE THEY GOT THE CARS FROM AUCTION... :) )))

Hi! This is "tottie-for-lol"......I am thinking of selling my
L-Reg. Rover216SLi 1.6 Green/Grey Hatchback.
I've had it 18months, but have hardly used it. I think the most I've driven it for is something like...75miles...just locally. The only reason I'm selling it [IF I do] is because I am ill, and am finding it
more and more difficult to use a car! (I have to go about in a battery-operated wheelchair.) I have only just re-taxed it for a further 6months. It has an MOT until Jan'2007 as well. It is an excellent car...easy to drive with its Power Steering, etc.
You do know that Rovers are built with 'safety-clamps' in the sides. so they can stand accidents much better than ANY other car you can mention!! The boot is large enough to carry such things as a childs buggy, or even a wheelchair, or a folding bike.
I don't REALLY want to sell it, but I find driving more difficult these days. I am open to GOOD
POSSIBLE!!
My-E-mail address is.......leah_keen35@yahoo.co.uk.
Cheers for now!! Hope to hear from you, soon.

From my experiance used Vauxhall Corsas are reliable & cheap to run & service. Parts are reasonably priced too.
Make sure you don't get an x-driving school Corsa.
My first car was a Vauhall Nova, next car was a Corsa.
There are lots of Internet used car car guides you can look at for detailed advice, I use http://www.parkers.co.uk/
If you're a new driver try to concider your safety and find a used car with driver airbag as a minimum. I think it's a shame that new drivers who are more likely to have accidents & have more of their lives left to live invariably end up having to buy used cars with outdated safety features, especially when it is because they have to save the money to spend on the extortionate car insurance.

Best value for money... Probably BMW 7 series. They will have depreciated from £50000 plus to around £2000. The running costs are likely to be higher then your average city run around but if your asking about what is the best value for money then cars that have depreciated from a high initial starting price are the best!

I've had ford, Peugeot, Renault, and now Honda. Honda are very good just do oil change and renew the oil filter twice each year. Did you know that as far as I can assetain Honda have produced in excess of 85million engines and not one has been recalled. Try to find one with service history, you will not be disappointed

For 2000 I got my wife a W reg Nissan micra celebration from a main dealer "Dixons", we bartered them down from 2900, plus got them to throw in a full tank of petrol, full car mats, first service free, first MOT free, plus 12 months Dixons breakdown cover.
I have had a Micra before, never went wrong, and the neighbour has had a micra for 12 years - passed it's mot first time last week.
