Now I am looking for organized religion, not cave drawings unless there is a documented name for it. Just wondering how many will get this wrong. Thanks!

make it 4.... I am just glad that not everyone on here insists on giving ignorant answers... The whole purpose of this was simply because of a very ignorant Christian that wanted to argue. It frustrated me. Thanks for letting me get it off my chest. (by the way I am not trying to insult anyone so please don't get mad. And I am not calling all Christians ignorant, just this one in particular.) Have a great day!

Some people seem to think it is Zoroastrianism, and it may well be as names are very fleeting and the content of something defines its meaning more than a name. According to my reading, the Sumerians had a religion that already encompassed all the main ingredients we find in all the major religions today and they date back to about 8000 years ago or about 6,000 BC.
The resurrection myth based on kings, who when they died and were replaced by their children were not differentiated (the king is dead, long live the king).
The virgin birth; the idea it all started with 2 people, Paradise, heaven, hell. Anything to control people was already done with a high degree of sophistication.
The amazing thing is, that people in our supposedly enlightened age still buy into all that crap and kill each other for believing slightly different version of essentially the same thing.
Makes one wonder whether there is any intelligence on this planet, with my apologies to the whales and the dolphins. ;-)

Hinduism is generally considered to be the oldest religion still being practiced today. This ancient religion was born when the Aryan peoples migrated to Northern India and first put their religious tradition into writing. The texts they created are the Vedas, which were written around 1,500 B.C.E. (before common era) and have greatly influenced Indian culture ever since.
Several other religions are almost as old as Hinduism. Judaism traces its roots back to the patriarch Abraham, who lived around 1,800 B.C.E. While the Jewish people are descended from Abraham, it was Moses who first recorded the Torah, the Jewish holy text, in 1,400 B.C.E. Most sources consider the date of the Torah as the beginning of Judaism.
Zoroastrianism is sometimes called the world's oldest prophetic religion. It's certainly one of the earliest religions founded by one person. Scholars are not certain when the founding prophet Zarathustra actually lived. Some believe Zarathustra lived in the 6th century B.C.E., while others trace his writings to the 14th or 13th centuries B.C.E.
India has been a veritable cradle for world religions -- in addition to Hinduism, both Jainism and Buddhism originated in India. The first of Jainism's sacred lords, called a Tirthankara, lived in the 8th century B.C.E. The last of these lords was Mahavir, who lived in the 5th century B.C.E. and was a key figure in spreading the religion. The philosophical teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, spread around Asia after his death in 483 B.C.E.
Oddly enough, the two religions that dominate the world today are relative newcomers to the spiritual scene. Christianity began with the teachings of Jesus Christ around 30 C.E., and Islam started in 610 C.E. with the prophet Muhammad's revelation.

I believe the oldest organized recorded religion is Islam, it had been founded in the 7th century. I am have also known by biblical records that the Jewish religion is also an older organized religion founded in 1800 CME. Somewhere before recorded time, which means that Moses was a jew when he wrote the first books of the old testamest. Adam in the garden of Eden was probably a Islam, then.

If you read the Bible you know that it has the world's history recorded back to its own creation, so the belief in God (not necessarily Christianity, because Christianity, although it is the belief in God, is named for Jesus Christ who was not on earth at its beginning) is the oldest "religion", even though "religion" is really a human institution. The beginning of the earth when Adam and Even were on the planet did not contain any religion... living with God was just life... not referred to as any particular religion.... if that makes any sense.
