For one thing, there would be no wars in the Middle East. Northern Ireland would be peaceful again; no famine and terror in the horn of Africa. If everyone bought into 'live and let live' we might be able to live. A lovely dream.

Live and let live
True story about an older gentleman, living alone, down the street from me. He was dirty, smelled of urine, looked physical unhealthy (rather thin), walked around in his yard with his walker yelling curse words much of the time.
I felt bad for him, called Social Services to seek this person some help and I was told by Social Services that it wasn't a crime to live like this. Within less than three weeks he died out in his yard next to his walker.
This event has somehow scared me. It is something I'll never forget.
To answer your question about Religion, I simply don't know how to answer.

My favourite quote is from Gandhi:
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
I think changes would include a more highly evolved collective consciousness of humanity, leading to fewer world wide disaster, including natural disasters, pandemics, disease, terrorism, war and a more love-based life in general.
It would be good. It might be as close as we could come to utopia on earth.

Perhaps a live and let live attitude towards others in general would heal the world.

See, the problem with the question is; you query "...a live and let live, attitude", then you single out religion.
If you want the premise of "Live and Let Live" to work then you have to follow the precept. Completely!
Good question though!

Many religions require you to evangelize or seek converts so that wouldn't really work.

as long as there's politicians, it would always become a "live and let live as long as you live our way" attitude.
