Well, mainly because when I see someone dressed like that it makes me feel like throwing up and that the sound I usually make that sound...."ooh look, someone dressed all in black......G'OTH!!!!"
Either that or Goth is a contemporary subculture prevalent in many countries around the globe. It began in the United Kingdom during the late 1970s to early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture is remarkable for its longevity compared with others of the same era. Its imagery and cultural proclivities show influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature, mainly by way of horror movies.
The goth subculture has associated "gothic" tastes in music and fashion. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a “dark” sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, Victorian, androgynous, some Renaissance style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with lots of black attire, makeup and hair.

Most people who wear all black all the time are either goths or clergy. It is in human nature to interpret your surrounding based on past experience.

i wear mostly black ,but I'm not goth .i can reflect the darkness that i feel with out conforming to a system of beliefs

because wearing all black is associated with goths. its called "guilty by association".
ive been called goth before. (black cargo pants and a black hoody (hey it was cold)

Because people think of the color black as depressing. I like black, and some people know better thats its just a color.

It has nothing to do with human nature, it is a perception and a gross generalization. A prejudice, or pre-judgment. It's laziness at its finest!
